Removing gamertag from my email and transfering to son's email account

Unfortunately there is no way to transfer the Gamertag and progress to another MS account.

The only thing that can be done is the email address on the account can be changed but that would essentially make the MS account his account.

Those steps sound good, but isn't the account on the Xbox One console that the Son is playing logged in with his Dad's email? Once Dad's email gets removed from the Son's account, will the Xbox One console freak out?

Does the Son need to login to the Xbox One with his new email address? And will that create a second account on the console with the same gamertag but different email address? Eventually that duplicate account will need to be deleted?

About the gamertag, is that the key to being able to save/transfer all the progress you've made in different games?

You cant transfer gamertag names, achievements etc. You can though, log in the Microsoft account and change the email to a new one, choosing it as primary email and removing your email from that Xbox account. The purchases, gamertag and everything remain
but your email is not linked with it anymore. So when your son will log in to his xbox account he will use his new email and not yours.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. WE understand you are wanting to transfer your gamertag. Unfortunately, you are unable to transfer gamertag or data from one account to another account. You can however

change the primary email. Important note: If the email on the account is a Microsoft domain email do not remove it from the account completely. If you do it will delete the email. If it is any other domain you can remove it safely.

Yes, you can transfer your son's Xbox account to a new email address and remove your email address from the account. To do this, you will need to follow these steps:



1. Sign in to your son's Xbox account using your email address and password.

2. Go to the "Settings" menu and select "Account."

3. Select "Sign-in, security & passkey."

4. Select "Change email address."

5. Follow the prompts to add your son's new email address and make it the primary email address for the account.

6. Once the new email address is added, you can remove your email address from the account by selecting "Remove" next to your email address.

7. Your son's gaming data and progress will remain intact, and he will be able to continue using his account with his new email address.



After removing your email address from your son's account, you can create a new Xbox account using your original email address. However, please note that any gaming data or progress associated with your son's account will not be transferred to your new account.
