    Removing GamerTag from Child Account

My son got a XBOX LIVE Membership for his birthday. Long story short things got really *** up so I want to transfer his gamertag to another non-child account. I go to the XBOX, log into his account, go to the Change Microsoft Account screen, enter in his
password, then my Live ID and Password (I'm the parent), then finally the new Live ID and password. I press the GREEN button and I get a message that says to go to some useless website that says nothing. I've tried this three times now and I get the exact
same result. Is there another way to transfer this GamerTag off this child's account over to a non-Child's account?

    :)

  2. Can't change privacy settings/use other features

You can remove a child by either promoting it (over 17) from the child account's Account Management, or by removing the parent/child relationship entirely from the parent account.

  3. Gamertag missing

    To make the story short:

    - a did a mistake removing from family the account of my child

    - I added back the account and changed email to a new one

    - both accounts (child and parent) see each other as family members

    Problems:

    - parent privacy & security settings : cannot see my child's gamertag

    - child - privacy & security settings : I get an error

    - child - change gamertag: error too

    - parent can log in to xbox live

    - child cannot log in xbox live: error says parent account is not valid

Help to solve this mess is needed!!!

    Thanks,

    Cri

  4. Removing GamerTag from Child Account

This is how to promote an account from child to adult on Xbox 360

Age is determined by the date of birth on the Xbox Live account. Once a person turns 18, he or she can follow the steps here to promote their account.

On your Xbox 360 console, sign in to Xbox Live using the account that you want to change.

Go to Settings and select Account.

In the Your Information panel, select Promote Child Account.

Note “Promote Child Account” will only be available if the date of birth for the account indicates that you have reached adult age for your country or region.

If you’re prompted to sign out of a current game session, select Yes.

On the “Promote your current Xbox Live child account to an adult account” screen, select Continue.

Steps 6 through 9 apply only to accounts that are currently billed to a credit or debit card. If your account has a prepaid subscription, go to step 10.

On the “To promote your account, replace the credit card that is associated with the account with a new card or payment method” screen, select Continue.

Note The same credit card can be used again. However, the credit card details must be re-entered.

Enter the name, credit card type, credit card number, expiration date, and verification code for the replacement credit card, and then select Next.

Enter the billing address, city, state, and postal code for your credit card, and then select Next.

Verify your contact information, and then select Done.

Accept the Xbox Live Terms of Use and the Privacy Statement.

On the “Your Xbox Live account is now an adult account” screen, select Done.

Note If your Xbox Live account doesn’t change to an adult account, try signing out and then signing back in.

changing a child account to a normal account

well pandagirl you can go into the parental account windows live id and manage child accounts and remove it

however the account will remain a child account

until the age of the gamertag reaches 18 you cannot promote it to an adult account

On the verge of a nervous breakdown!

Is this other account a child account? You'll get that error if it has a parental account over it. You can check for sure by signing into the gamertag, to to settings > privacy and change settings. Doesn't matter what to, really, but you might want to look
at what is was set to first. If you attempt to change a child account's setting, it'll ask for the parental account's password.

    ~

If this pops, the account is child and needs to be removed from the parental account before you can add it to the family pack.

    ~

To separate the child and parent, you have to download the parent account, go to the family center and choose the account you are trying to add. Remove from family, and then you can log back into the primary family account and add the account you want.

Recovering Accunt, Asked to recover 2 Xbox accounts

The reason you have two accounts come up is one is the parent account.

You'll want to check for sure which is the parent and which is the child. Try signing into your gamertag on the console and go to the setting hub (not through the guide menu) and select the family panel. If this account is the parent, it will show the child
account. You can select the child account and remove from family. That'll get rid of the second account.

If you do not see the second account in the family panel, that means your primary account is the child account and the email is actually tied to the parent.
