    Hi, I added my live account to a friends xbox. He sold the xbox and told me that he formated it before selling it. I would like to know if this will cause me any problem adding my account to a future xbox or formatting it is enough. I kind of remember reading
    somewhere that I had to deauthorize the xbox or something like that

    Xbox is telling me to get Gold even though I have it?

    Another way to attempt to fix this, is to remove the account from the xbox in settings->accounts-> remove accounts. After that is removed login with that gametag again to force the console to fetch your live subscription data. In rare cases your Xbox account and live account will lose sync.

    As long as he did a factory reset (wipes profile, email etc), you are good to go.

    It's best to create your own thread instead of bumping an old one.

    If you go here you can remove your account from all consoles and require that it be redownloaded before being used.

    Hi, if you go into settings and scroll all the way to the right you will see remove account. Just click on it and follow the steps.
