Removing a Xbox account from a parent email.

Online in your Xbox Account settings you'll be able to change your email in there! Just remove your parents (That won't delete their email, just remove it from your Account) and Add the email you wish to use.

If you do not use the email to sign in on anything like your PC phone etc. You can switch emails on the account to one of his. I will provide the steps to do so.

1. Add your child email and verify it.
2. Once it is verified you can make it primary.
3. This will move your email to secondary, VERY Important: DO NOT REMOVE THE EMAIL FROM THE ACCOUNT TOTALLY. This will delete the email entirely if removed from the account.
4. If you do use the email for anything like your PC or phone sign in, you will not be able to do this.

I am a little confused. The email that I want to separate from my son's Xbox account is my main and only email, that I use on my own PC, phone, Facebook, Instagram. Am I missing something here? Please advise.

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. Unfortunately, there is no way to transfer an Xbox account to a different Microsoft account. Once that Xbox account is created, it is tied to that Microsoft account for good.

There is one scenario where you may be able to get the outcome you are looking for. Both of these need to be correct :

1. You do not use this Microsoft account for anything else, including signing into windows.

2. Your well established email is not a Microsoft domain (Outlook, Hotmail, Live, MSN)

will be locking this thread, however, as mentioned if the emails are Outlook, Hotmail or msn you cannot switch them between the accounts. You
can attempt to switch the primary alias, however you will need to leave it on the account as the secondary email.

If
the email is connected to the wrong gamertag, you can move the email over to the gamertag you do want it connected to. It will be similar to
musical chairs. You will first need to free up the email you want to use on the other account by first changing that email to a 3rd email that you don't care for (or create a new one on another website
like Gmail or Yahoo just for this) and then you can move that email to the account you want it on. It could take up to 48 hours for the emails to update across all systems.

In this case then you wont be able to change it as you use for other things to sign in.

The option I gave was if it was only used for Xbox/Microsoft and used it for personal emails.
