Remove xbox account

I dont know what happen if I remove xbox account from my Microsoft account. Me and my partner split up and when I remove xbox , can he somehow transfer his xbox to his Microsoft account. If that make sense. When he bought xbox he asked me to set it up but we didn't realise when I do that with my email address it will be so much hassle to move that account .please help . He doesn't want loose all his data on xbox if I remove it .

Hi,

To remove users Sign in to the account that your removing the accounts on. Then go to Settings > Account > Remove accounts. Confirm that you want to remove it. Done!

Please know that your are not deleting your Xbox or Microsoft Account this is just removing the account from the Xbox. If you want to delete a Xbox Account let me know!

If you don't have access to the Xbox, the only way to remove an account is through the Xbox website. Here's how you can remove an account from an Xbox without access to the Xbox:

Go to the Xbox website and sign in with the account you want to remove.

Click on your profile picture in the top right corner and select "Settings."

Click on "Account" and then select "Remove accounts."

Select the account you want to remove and click on "Remove."

You'll be asked to confirm that you want to remove the account. Click "Yes" to confirm.

The account will be removed from the Xbox and can no longer access any content associated with the account.

Note that if the account you want to remove is the only account on the Xbox, you'll need to perform a factory reset to remove the account completely.

The gamertag won't be able to be removed from the system.

If it is anything but a hotmail.com or live.com you can rename the windows live id to anything (dummy account works) at account.live.com

That'd be the only way I could recommend getting your email off.

Hello Airiana,

I understand how frustrating this issue can be. You can only switch the home Xbox five times a year. Check your Microsoft account online to see which other devices are connected to the account (account.microsoft.com/devices)? It's a good idea to make sure your account is not being used anywhere else.

Do you have multiple consoles on your home network?
