Remove from Xbox preview program

Hi,

I need assistance being removed from the Xbox preview program as every time i log into my console i am being asked to compete an 300mb+ update, after contacting live chat I am being told to post here for further assistance. I am unable to remove myself
as i purchased the console second hand from someone who mentioned it was on this scheme.

I am about to remove my Xbox from the preview program.

 

No one in these forums can really assist you with that as the preview program has its own forums which I don't have access to since I am not in the program.

You are unable to opt out using your console? Not in the preview program myself so I am not really sure how it is controlled on the console. However, I have seen posted that you can go into the app on the console and opt out of the program then in a couple
of days a factory reset will be done on the console thus removing you from the program.

Maybe someone with experience with this will chime in soon.

 

I was told by the person i spoke to in the live chat to post here. Got a direct link off them to post in this thread. I personally cannot get access to the app. As it is not there on my account. I believe that the program was set up on the previous account
that the owner of the Xbox set up before me. Therefore i cannot get access myself.

 

Yeah, phone support sends people here when they don't know what else to do. Maybe someone that has had this specific situation comes through with some suggestions this is probably not going to be a lot of help. Good Luck to you.

 

The preview app is under the gamertag of the previous owner , you would have to ask him to sign in on your xbox and remove it , I know of no other way unfortunately ...

 

Exactly, and that's the problem i cannot get him to sign in. I've spoken to two people now through live chat and they've both told me to post in this area for an expert to help me.

 

And as I said they will do that when they don't have any other answers. That is one of the problems with buy used consoles. The previous owners decisions sometimes stay with the console.

 

I agree with you Genesis, I'm sick of having to download all these updates every time i turn my console on and now I've have to deal with it using my broadband and hard drive space until an expert replies to me.

 

The "fix" is what I listed above , the gamertag that joined the program HAS to be the one to withdrawl from it , I would tell whoever you got if from , if he wont sign in and take it off , you want a refund , but you are at his mercy on this one ...even
a factory reset wont roll it back I'm afraid... sorry...

 

The agreement they signed when signing up to the preview prohibits the selling of the console with preview access.

I'm going to wait and see if any staff from Microsoft can be bothered to reply to this and give me straight up answer themselves as I've gone to so much effort contacting them, they may be able to help more but getting in contact with the seller is next
to impossible for me right now.

Maybe if there is another way someone will figure it out an post it here so we can better assist future users, however, from past experience I don't hold out much hope on getting this resolved at least not quickly.

Microsoft staff are the ones who told you to post here weren't they ? Not sure what they can tell you any different but you are welcome to wait , but they SELDOM if ever reply to these threads ..... Call 1-800-469-9269 if you want to talk to them ,
and post back with what they tell you , I would be curious to know if its any different than what I have been told... ( I am in the preview program)...
