why can't I remove my credit card from this account? I stopped the monthly bill, but it still will not remove my card. I no long give xbox permission to charge my account to this credit card. Is there a phone number of someone I can speak?

Paying with a 12 month pre-paid card

Hello,

Last month I decided to renew xbox live with a 12 month pre-paid card instead of my credit card. The service is being paid from the 12 month card and not the credit card. I would like to get the credit card off of my billing information. However, I can't
remove the credit card from the system. The only option I have is to replace it with another credit card...Which I don't want to do.

What can I do?

You can't remove a card while it is attached to an active gold subscription. You would have to wait for your gold to expire and then remove it, or have your subscription cancelled so you can remove it.

What Smwutches is partly true. You said you stopped the monthly bill: Does this mean you cancelled the subscription, or simply turned automatic renewal off? These are two different things, but in a sense, they accomplish the same thing.

Either way, there's a possibility that you have an outstanding balance on the card. That's usually the main reason you can't remove a card from an account. Like Smwutches said, calling Xbox support is your best bet. If you're like me and understanding the
whole "my-xbox" part of the number confuses you, the actual number itself is 1-800-469-9269.

I feel like the people at XBOX are scumbags and know full well what they are doing. If you think about the logic, you pay for a month on 6/4/14. Your account gets debited, but somehow, they 'need' to keep the account tied to the card that's already been
paid. Why: so seven year old kids will continue to unkowingly download games and packages for $7 here and $21 there. It's basically fraud. Most of the kids playing are under 18 years old. You'd either need to sit and watch your kid play XBOX or tell them they
can't play. I'm going to talk to my lawyer and I'm sure there are other parents who have suffered the same issue. The most perverse thing is that they make it harder to cancel the auto renewal than buy a game. Right? You need your password to cancel, but not
one to unkowingly buy a game. If security was so important, they'd simply add a password at the purchase time to ensure control. They can fix this but won't. SHAME!

To remove a credit card from your Xbox account, do the following:

1. Go to the Settings tab.

2. In the settings tab, go to "Payment & Billing."

3. You should be able to see the credit card you'd like to remove, simply click "Remove" to have it taken off the system.

Once this is done, he shouldn't be able to access the credit card information on the system or use it as a payment method.
