  1. Remove consent / remove family member - service temporarily unavailable

I have been trying for days to remove a child from my Microsoft family. The member was added a few years ago so he could play Xbox with my son. Now I need to remove him from our family and when I try to remove consent, I get the “service temporarily unavailable. Try again later”. This is not allowing me to remove the child from the family on my Microsoft account. I’ve been trying for almost a week now.

Has anyone had this issue and how was it resolved? I’ve tried different browsers and different devices…phone, iPad and windows 11 hp laptop.

    :)

Remove consent / remove family member - service temporarily unavailable

Hello, Lenora. Thanks for reaching out! My name is Lucas, and I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user just like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

Have you tried using the Family Safety app instead of on a web browser? If not, please try it and let me know how it goes.

For me, it looks like a technical issue if you tried on multiple devices, web browsers (using an Icognito / Inprivate tab) and connected to other networks (mobile, wifi, ethernet) and the issue persists.

    Waiting for your kind reply.

WHERE IS THE "Manage this child's access to third-party apps"?????

To remove consent from a family member’s account:

Visit family.microsoft.com and sign into your Microsoft account.

Scroll down and select Manage my child’s profile info.

Find your family member and select Remove consent for this child’s account.

Then, try to remove and add him again to your family group, please.

Is it possible to remove a child account from xbox family settings?

Hi! i went to that first link and tried to remove him to re-add him but it says the following :

You can't remove ***** from the family group

Family members under statutory age need an adult's consent to join a family group. Only the adult that granted consent for Dylan can remove this family member. Ask the family organiser who granted Dylan consent to remove Dylan from the family group.

the daft thing about that is im the person it my email i have to sign in i put him on it

I want to move my account onto a new family member. Will my attached child account move as well?

That does not work. It says

"Family members under statutory age need an adult's consent to join a family group. Only the adult that granted consent for Adam can remove this family member. Ask the family organiser who granted Adam consent to remove Adam from the family group."

However, that is me and my email address. I've logged out again and logged back in and it makes no difference. I even tried the "reclaim the adult account" - it goes straight back to my login.

can't delete an xbox family member

Remove members : You can remove anyone that didn't need parental consent to join your family group. This includes organizers, members above statutory age, or member accounts in countries without parental consent requirements. To remove members without parental consent:

    1. Go to family.microsoft.com.
    2. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
    3. On your family's page under the member's name, select More options > Remove from family group, and confirm.
