  1. Remote which does not require line of sight to the box

    Hello

I am new to xbox with Kinect and have set it up as our central media device. Before this, we used the Sony NSZ-GT1 which had pretty much all the media features which xbox has but a nicer remote. My wife is very used to that and I would like to recreate that
with the xbox. From what I have read, all the 3rd party remotes/media remote need a line of sight to the box.

Is there a remote which has QERTY keyboard and media functions but does not require line of sight to the box (kinect is ok)

    Thanks

    :)

Using Xbox One From Another Room

I’m looking into getting a new TV in the coming month. I’m going to wall mount it and am looking into a new Samsung with One Connect Box, that I can place in cabinet one room over (still only 15-20’).

I want to be able to place the Xbox One in the same cabinet, which will not have a direct line of sight, when I am sitting directly in front of the TV.

Anyway, does the Xbox One and Media Remote require a line of sight with one another in order to function?

If not, any suggestions for solutions?

XBox One Requires IR to Control DirectTV but I need RF to work (lost cause?)...

I just got an Xbox One and it seems that
requires IR (line of sight) to control my DirectTV box. For reasons too long to explain, I
MUST HAVE my DirectTV be configured to use
RF (shoots through walls). I believe most "remote extenders" actually convert
    IR->RF->IR (the last step converting
    back to IR).

This last "step" in the remote extender process would require that my DirectTV box be configured to
    IR (which I can't do).

I really just want IR->RF so the Xbox IR will be converted to RF (but
    NOT back to IR).

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

+1, Smartglass app. It's basically a remote on your phone or tablet.

  5. I used SmartGlass for the first time tonight (tested it out on Netflix), works PERFECTLY!

I have to admit I raged a little because it won't connect, then I realized I was using LTE, it's Wi-Fi only. LOL

I use smartglass as my Mrs can browse tv channels without bringing them up on the TV disturbing me while I watch something.

The xbox remote is really picky. It requires complete direct line of sight with a good angle. I used one for awhile and gave up on it because it was such a pain.
