Remote Play Network Issues

I am trying to use my laptop as a screen for my Xbox One (I am in college and don't have access to a tv). While I was at home from school, I successfully connected my console to my laptop through the console companion app, and was able to use my laptop as a wireless monitor. But now that I am away and my laptop is connected to a different network than at home, I have no way to wirelessly remote play without first changing my console's network to the one I use here. I can't change said console settings without a monitor, so I have no idea what to do.

We really need to use a Monitor or TV in that way we can manage your console settings for you to successfully use your Laptop as a screen. If you can borrow one that would be great just for one time only.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with remote play.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Please restart both your Xbox console and the device you're using for Remote Play (PC, mobile, etc.). Make sure that your console is set to Instant-On mode so it’s ready for remote sessions.

And then check network connection because remote play requires a strong and stable network connection. Test your network speed on both your console and Remote Play device. Ensure that the NAT Type on your console is Open. Go to Settings > Network Settings > NAT Type. Kindly restart your router if your connection is unstable.

Next is to reconnect to the Xbox App. Sign out and back into your Xbox account on the app you’re using for Remote Play. And it is important to make sure that you are using the same Microsoft account that’s signed in on your Xbox console.

The enable remote features, do this on your console, go to Settings > Devices & Connections > Remote Features. Please make sure that "Enable Remote Features" is checked. Set Power Mode to Instant-On to ensure the console remains accessible remotely.

If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, kindly connect your Remote Play device to a different network (like a mobile hotspot). If this works, the issue is related to your original network setup.

To be clear, xbox support does not have purview on the status, addition, or maintenance of the servers and their locations. I recommend the Xbox Insiders and submitting reports when you see this occur or experience issues due to this occurrence because it creates documentation to the issue for reference when and if these changes, choices, or decisions are discussed. In addition, remote play is in the same status as xCloud in that it is not out of its beta phase and all feedback helps in making future decisions and changes to the service to hopefully improve it.

Based on your screenshot remote play is functional while on the same home network? Do you get any errors or issues when trying to do remote play when both your Xbox and device are on the same network? Have you been trying remote play on two separate networks such as data on a cellular device or a different Wi-Fi connection outside the home?

Based on the description, you are having issue with remote play when iOS device is connected via 5G and Xbox Console is connected via home network. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

We would like to ask few questions to help us isolate the issue further.

1. What error are you getting when devices used for remote play is not connected on the same network? The internet connection should be:

7-10 Mbps
Connected to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network (a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network will work but isn’t currently optimized)
Cellular network connectivity is also available.

2. Have you tried another device to remote play your console like a Windows PC and even connected on different network remote play does not work?
