Remote Downloads: Only Download, no Installation?

I have a question about Remote Downloads on Xbox One. Both times ive tried it (at Work via Windows-8-Smartglass-App) the Games has been downloaded on the Xbox One at home but not installied. Installation began both times after waking up the console.
Do i miss an option or is Remote Downloads working as intended?

There is no remote download feature. You have to startup your console to begin the download

I'm guessing this still isn't available?? I've even had it on my phone for some time with android! Not actually ever tried with my WP though. Would be a great feature for when I get home on 27th May I want to play Watch Dogs straight away!! lol

 

Usually the download is the installation at the same time.

But I guess you bought Destiny and the game is still showing in your download queue. This is a wanted preload behavior as the game is not playable befor the 9th of September. So on this day it will move from the download queue to the installed games.

No. It was Crimson Dragon and yesterday Metro Last. Light. Both Games were downloaded 100% when i arrived at home and turned on the console. But the Installation just started after turning on the Xbox One.

 

Just to understand you correctly then:

The games were already downloaded or were they marked as ready to install and started downloading when you clicked them? We're they listed in the download queue? I assume your console is in instant on?

Asking this not because I doubt what your are saying but to get a better understanding on what happened. As I never tried a mobile purchase yet and also have not heard about such issues yet, but had that issue with the destiny download by myself.

 

Yes - X1 is of course in Instant on. The Games were downloaded but not ready to play. Instead Installation started automaticly after turning on the console. Ive tried it now with a third game (The free Pinball-Game) via xbox.com and the same. Download
complete but not ready to play after turning in the xbox One..

Think this should be normal behavior as in instant on the system is not really active, only very reduced task are performed, like downloading and surveillance on Kinect activity for powering up. So to "install" the game to the Xbox one os it needs to be
powered up fully then.

 

Let me ask, exam, what is the percentage for these installs when you start up your console? In the past, I have seen automatic updates which have a "99%" status and says "Ready to Install," which is a bit misleading, because it's really just waiting for
the game to be initialized the first time. When the game is started, it almost instantly finishes the install and boots up. It's possible the remote download of purchases could work the same way.

If, however, your install process takes a LOONG time, like a normal install, this doesn't apply.

 

@Jaymo1978: Installation starts at 0% and so it takes a lot of time for bigger games like Metro Last Light to install.

 

What exactly is "a lot of time"? 5 Minutes? 30 minutes?

This indeed sounds more like the games are in the queue and just start downloading when the one is powered up?

 

Tile says "Installing" not "Downloading". Installation of Metro took about 20 to 25 Minutes. My Internet-Connection isnt so fast for 9 GB in 25 Minutes

Perhaps someone can try it. Is the Game-Tile in My Games & Apps after Remote Download? And is the Game immediatly playable after waking up the Xbox One?
