    Remote downloads and updates on standby: will they ever work?


    Getting close to the next gen and still waiting for current gen 'features' to work. Installing games and apps from mobile or desktop never works and worse still, even with 'instant on' enabled I have to search for updates when I play, never mind have games ready to go when I boot up. These are basics that still don't work properly and, given the recent debacle with patches for Modern Warfare, it's only going to be more noticable in the future. Have filled report after report and still no fix in sight, anyone else have issues with this?

    We were unable to turn on your console. Make sure this device is on the same network as your console and your console is set to instant on.

    I imagine the only solution there will ever be to this problem is to buy a PS4. The Remote Play from PC capability was released yesterday and it works very well, including wake from standby.

    hopefully the Xbox One gets remote downloads soon ...... as it stands right now, buying the game online does nothing but put it in standby. you still have to turn the console on and tell it to download it. i'd enjoy digital pre orders as well .. but not
    if remote downloads aren't working.

    Hi there you can do both without any worry. Standby mode is the preferred mode so if there is a update available the console will automaticly download updates best thing ever.

    samsung TV switching on

    sorry its my explination, it turns my tv on and off, volume works up and down once the Tv remote has been pressed to switch the TV from standby to On its just not enough to get it to switch on to picture oyt of standby. So when i say xbox on it goes to standby
    not actually on.

    Yes remote installations is enabled..

    And yes it's set as my 'home' console..

    BUT... now that i have the xbox turned on (not sitting on standby) it's showing in the list...

    Shouldn't it be able to do it in standby with the instant on feature turned on?? That's the whole point of instant on isn't it? So it can download while 'turned off'
