Reminder: How to File a Forum Report

Hello folks,

As a reminder, here is
How to File a Forum Report.

This is a just brief overview of how to file a forum report along with a few tips to make a better report. The rules governing the actions on reports are the Terms of Use and
the Code of Conduct as well as the forum guidelines. This does
not mean you can't report things that you see that are good. Feel free to report anything you think deserves a moderator or admin attention, even good things.

 

How to File a Forum Report

I'm working on a update to this post. In the mean time you just click the moderate dropdown and flag the post or you can PM a moderator found in the list here and explain your report if needed. I've gotta get some new screenshots and I think I'm
gonna reword some of it based on feedback and questions from all of you.

Here's how -

Locate the post needing a report and click on the Moderate Dropdown





Once you click on that you will see a little text box pop up. This is where you will enter your message to the Moderator Team and explain the reason for the report.



The report message is the important part. Please fill in all relevant information regarding the situation. When you are finished click the "Report" button at the bottom.



Feel free to put any links to other posts to help explain a situation or alternatively report those posts as well.



Common thread titles and infractions you might run across -

• Naming and Shaming

• • You cannot name other gamertags or call them out publicly on the forums regardless of their crime on Xbox Live
    

• Code Trading

• • You cannot trade, give away, beg for, barter, borrow or steal any codes on the forums including but not limited to 1600MSP, 48 Hour Gold, DLC etc etc.
    
  • You may from time to time see a Developer, Moderator or Admin host something but that will be made clear and will be with permission for Official Forum Events
    

• Profanity

• • Anything profane from words to pictures. Save the children and please report these if nothing else.
    

• Flaming/Attacking other Members

• Trolling/Baiting

• • basically only posting to get another poster to negatively respond in hopes that you'll get to report them for their infraction. Pro Tip# You're both going down. Don't feed trolls and don't come to the forums to fulfill your troll appetite.
    

• Spamming

• Posting personal information

• • Please do not do this. Inevitably you will get a ton of spam messages and more than likely someone will sign you up for a newsletter your mother won't be proud of.
    

How to be a good reporter -

• Do not post in the thread or in any way shape or form acknowledge an offense. Just report it and move along.
  

• Just keep in mind it's not a contest and you don't become a forum moderator by going around and posting that "this thread will be taken care of" or "I reported this thread, everyone move along now". If you see something bad just take a moment to report
  and slip away unnoticed and we'll know who is doing what and will handle it from there and know that you are appreciated for helping keep the forums fun.
  

• Just as commenting on an infraction furthers the problem so does telling someone not to comment.
  

• Oh..and one more thing....just report and move on.
