  1. Release game now, patch later makes these consoles online-only

I have a lot of old systems and games. I collect them, and decades later I am still collecting games for them. They all work every-time out and with no "updates needed." ... As it should be.

The only thing gamers should need the net for in this, or ANY generation is for purchasing add-on's and online multiplayer. Guess gamers these days have gotten used to rushed to market and half finished titles and have forgotten all-together what gaming
    SHOULD BE!

Manufactures, and Developers. "The Quality (MUST) goes in, before the name (EA/Microsoft/Sony/Etc) goes on." ~ Old Zenith Slogan. You'd do well to put that into practice.

There are so many games with game breaking bugs that, lets be honest, should never be released in their current state.

Think about it. They're basically (but not always) selling us something broken in hopes that they can fix it by the time we buy it. Isn't that totally messed up? What if the patch doesn't work straight away? What if the patch is glitched like the one for
AC U where it made you basically download a 48 gb patch?

I know we can vote with our wallets and the only gamers that would are people like us in this thread or people who are fed up with it and know better. The problem is, is that so many gamers are younger and the population of gamers is growing more and more
every year. They're not used to the way it used to be compared to now. They don't really care for the value of $, £ or €. They want the next game.

I doubt we will see a change to be honest.

I really hope that CD Projekt Red deliver a glitch free game with The Witcher 3. That's why it's being delayed. At least they have the balls to delay it or at least a publisher that'll let them.

Paying testers less time to test games probably saves them a bit of money. It's just a shame we pay the price.

@genchy don't get me wrong I'm not agreeing with these absurdly huge patches on Day one and broken games, but even on 360 it is a normal feature to receive updates and patches for games. It just wasn't as regular as it is now, which was worse if there was
a particular frustrating bug in a game you put up with it longer. I'm just saying to expect an offline console in this day and age is a thing of the past and although I hate to quote Don " there is a console for you and it's the 360" the one is an online
console whether some like it or not.

Microsoft backtracked and said it could be played offline with a day 1 patch. Now if the X Box one is truly a "Online Console" as you believe...shouldn't Microsoft change their marketing and refund the purchase price to those that bought it with the notion
it could be played offline with "one" patch? Oh, wait! They wouldn't even hint at being a online console only anymore, as it would be marketing suicide, and I'm sure they want to, at least, be in the same ballpark in sales as Sony.

I have reliable internet and don't see getting rid of it anytime in the near future. I still go "offline" to make sure the software that I "own" is playable without a connection. The day I find out otherwise is the day the X1 (And future M.S. consoles.)
will cease to exist in my household. I do vote with my wallet; M.S. might not miss me, but I'm sure there are enough of like minded people that they will miss...or at least miss their wallets/purses. Lol.

    Peace, J.R.

The thing is they hide the fact that massive downloads are a feature both in console and games. Look at Halo MCC they don't make it clear that the game needs a 20gb download if you want to actually play MP. A required 20gb download before you even start
could be a massive issue for some but they can't make an informed purchase unless they hang in places like this or gaming sites. No where it is mentioned on the case, should be prominent.

I'm just hoping that future released games won't be broken. Depending on my circumstances I may be without internet in the coming months. It would be a pain in the butt if I couldn't play the games I am looking forward to playing.

A 15GB day one patch for Halo MCC, and multiplayer isn't working well despite the game has received at least 3 other Xbox Live Updates since it came out. I still like Halo though. Halo 2 MCC Campaign looks amazing and got some fun out of it. Haven't gotten
around to completing much in the game as I like to play other stuff on Xbox. That 15GB patch is the biggest patch I've had to download day one for any game in my life.

"Online Only" never bothered me. I am online 5 days out of the week anyway.

But because games are releasing unfinished. It is true, and it should not have to be this way. Release a game when it is finished, not when it is slightly past beta stage. You would never send a plane in the air and then fix it mid flight. It may be an
extreme analogy, but this is the sad truth.

The publisher put out a un-realistic release date, and the developers are forced to rush.

The amount of money we pay for games is $60-$100. For that amount of money they should be complete products.

  10. And we're talking x86 consoles here, not a cpu ran by bacteria or some other obscure method that takes 5 years to learn. Games are so much more complicated these days? What passes as someone with skill? A generic "Match the colours" game for your iPhone?
As long as people buy broken products and happily pay micro transactions we will get these broken games.

Simple truth. They do it because they can. And they are trying to keep up with the Call of Duty's. Which is only a copy and paste Genre. Games such as Assassin's Creed should not be a yearly release (2 this year, granted 1 for 7th Gen, 1 for 8th), and
should have never had been that broken. Granted, I got a free game out of it, but it is still unacceptable.

I'm with Boas, I doubt we will see change anytime soon if at all.

Like he and others have said if enough people voted with their wallets then no doubt developers would think twice about rushing games out but lets be honest and I include myself in this, everyone here think of the game you want most this year and it's released
tomorrow, are you rushing out first thing to buy a copy or even download it as soon as you can? I bet the vast majority here would, well I know I would lol
