Boas BS5, sorry but I don't live in "should land".

How about this the people that are making these Games beg to differ with your Opinion of what "should be".

When you feel up to it, you can make a Game yourself and do it however you like.

The thing is though even in places where there is good internet coverage the download speeds can vary hugely and that can be a problem with this generation of consoles. I currently have fibre optic 100mb+ where I am, but I can look out of my living room
window up the road about a 1000yds and see my old flat where I couldnt get Fibre and was restricted to about 2mb.

People who buy consoles as presents just are not aware of the dependency on a decent internet connnection to get this generation of consoles up and running without waiting around for hours for day one patches to fix broken games. They should make this
    requirement more prominent for purchasers.

They sort of did try to make the requirement more prominent at launch by saying this was a connected console.

^^ Yes, but when they said they wanted our consoles to always be connected I don't think rushed, broken games that needed updates were the reason why.

@Lostkauz, no thanks im trained in accountancy not game programing. When I do a set of account I make sure they are right.

The fact you have had to resort to the 'make your own game' argument belittles your previous arguments.

Just because the 'industry' does things one way does not mean its the right way.

[Mod removed] The conversation is in regards to games being released that are (in essence) broken. We're not discussing the merits of having Internet connection and what speeds you get. This isn't a debate on the console itself.

The only way to stop broken games from somehow been given the Gold status and launching... is by not pre-ordering and buying day-one. Your wallets speak volumes, and if your reasons for not pre-ordering or buying at launch are a track record of broken launches
from specific publishers [Ubisoft with Assassin's Creed: Unity] ... those publishers would have to address the issue with future launches.

Anyone defending the launch of broken and defective products based on how speedy repairs, updates and patches are is, frankly, an apologist and moron, and not a friend of consumers and they're not doing themselves any favours either. It's huge money for
publishers, marketing and launching a game. They work out what costs more, delaying the launch to really finish the game, or offering some pants compensation after knowingly launching the game in its broken state.

Games are never going to be perfect, and virtually all of them have issues. But for huge releases like AC:U to be so horribly bent out of shape, and for the publishers to slap their foreheads and go, "Oh wow! How on Earth did that happen? We're shocked by
the quality of it." It's ridonculous. They knowingly launched a buggy-as-frook game and they couldn't stop it because they'd dumped so much cash into marketing and its launch.

Their QA is probably great, and highlighted ahead of time what needed fixing, and it got fixed in the patches. But the other side of it... the money-side, and the release date side... nothing can stop that juggernaut. Valves "It'll be done when it's done."
Policy is admirable and respected by gamers.

You wouldn't buy a car you haven't driven, or seen reviewed [badly], based on a pre-purchase bonus of free low profile tires and some shiny alloy wheels. Don't buy games before they're launched based on worthless pre-order bonuses that become available down
    the line anyway.

"Can I interest sir in a suit?" Sure let me see it. "Oh, no no. You pay first, then you feel its quality, see if it fits, and even if you like the colour. If it has holes in it we promise sir speedy patches. Also, I must mention that in paying up front you
will get this awesome tie!" Doi, a tie! For sure here's your cash uh-yuck-yuck... drooling since-birth-bleh.

Just be smarter about when you buy, and what you buy. lol Consumers have the power... they just don't wield it enough most of the time. IMO

Eggnogga the fact that you need said internet to update the broken game makes this thread valid.

Anyway since when did you own the forums, telling people to shut up must be the new way of making friends.

@ Eggnogga simple answer. No I wont. As Boas says the two things are related and connected (see what i did there) and so valid in contect of the OP.

@Rippen yes they did but as Brand says not about the huge patches that will be required and hence the need for a really decent net connection. Not just your recommended 2mb for Live.

  10. "But theres not really much we can do about it :/ "

Yes, yes there is. I am not going to pre-order any games. If they come out broken to the point were people are having major game breaking issues then I will wait for a price drop. If gamers act like responsible consumers this stuff WILL stop. And no,
it is not the complexity of the games. They can make sure these major issues are not there. Smaller issues can slip through but major issues are much easier to find. But the only way for this stuff to stop is for the bottom line to take a hit.

It is true however you can put out a turd and then take time to polish it as long as you have the name. Consumers, and it is their right, will buy junk with the right name on it. And then hope for the kinks to be fixed. Some are and some are not. But
as the kinks that do get fixed are fixed you see comments like: "At least it is much better than launch despite the remaining issues". And most times sales data shows consumers buy the next and then the next iterations. No reason to take extra time to polish
if consumers are fine (contrary to what they may say) with what they get.

These things are mostly true for established franchises with a fan base. Not so much for new IP. Might be a big reason new IP are on the back burner.

    Thinking back ....

Just after Microsoft performed the turnaround, no DRM, always on, 24 hour check ins etc they said that the console would just need to be connected once to perform the day one update, after that people can stay offline if they wish.

I wonder though being honest how people would get on with no connection, like people have mentioned here, games needing updates to work properly and even though not the most important thing but unless it's changed I still don't believe you can get achievements
whilst offline, well they appear when you connect but it won't happen for a few.

As others have said i am certainly more savvy when it comes to pre-orders now. Only games i have pre-ordered this year are Destiny and DAI.

Luckily DAI was a solid gaming experience but if it would have had bugs on the scale of ACU it would have been unplayable for me.

Voting with the wallet is definatelyt the way to go but with so many gamers out there who want the game as early as possible its unlikely we will see a change!

I'm with Boas, I doubt we will see change anytime soon if at all.

Like he and others have said if enough people voted with their wallets then no doubt developers would think twice about rushing games out but lets be honest and I include myself in this, everyone here think of the game you want most this year and it's released
tomorrow, are you rushing out first thing to buy a copy or even download it as soon as you can? I bet the vast majority here would, well I know I would lol

People can be impatient. And game developers are put under pressure to release games as quickly as they can or have deadlines. Sometimes they're unable to meet those deadlines, what happened to Minecraft Xbox 1 Edition it was suppose to come out the month
or following month which Xbox 1 came out. It didn't get released until September if I'm correct. The game developers (Microsoft didn't own Minecraft at the time) also said it would come out in August, they weren't able to. They released the 8th gen version
to Sony's PS4 first, but Sony found game bugs in it and the release was postponed again. Same for The Sims 3 for PC, it got delayed. When TDU2 came out for Xbox 360, it was so broken. When Halo MCC came out, there was and still is, multiplayer issues, waiting
in lobbies for over 5 minutes and the matchmaking system is still searching without even popping up some sort of message like it's taking longer than normal to find matches, despite having open NAT and your internet connection ok and Xbox Live Status green
    across the board.

Game developers are under increasing pressure to get games out quickly. So they launch the game and then add updates to it when they can. The Xbox 1 console was also the same. It has had A LOT of feedback about it, 'why didn't it release with this and that
which Xbox 360 has?'. 'why is it missing so many Xbox Live features?' 'why does this next gen console not support Dolby audio only Stereo Uncompressed?'. You can play many games offline, but if you want to have an updated game, you do need to connect to Xbox
Live servers to check if they've released any updates. You have an Xbox 360 and/or Xbox 1 console. They don't call it "Xbox LIVE" for nothing. Many games have a Social aspect to it.
