Regular sudden disconnections.

Hello, recently, well two days ago, we got a new router installed which gives us faster speeds but since this new router I've been having some odd problems with the xbox and it's never happened before. What's happening is that I'll lose connection for a
split second but it will reconnect almost instantly when I go back to the dashboard a second later, like nothing happened. But it only seems to be happening while playing destiny, I could use the youtube app for an hour straight but every ten minutes on destiny
half way through it will disconnect me and I don't know what to do I don't know what's causing it, if it was the router why does everything else work fine except destiny, but then before we got the new router I could play online with no problems at all, and
it's really preventing any enjoyment online. Thanks for any help.

This happens to my friend all the time, are you in Canada? If so, it's a certain problem with linksys routers.

 

need more info .....some routers just need a tweak , some just don't work well with xbox one....

I'm not too sure on the model number I don't know where to find it, it's a Virgin router where would I find the model number?

Only my Xbox One and a PS4

My brother has the PS4 connected by Ethernet cable but I have the Xbox connected wirelessly in another room

I've tried resetting the router for 30 seconds and disconnecting the Xbox from it I didn't want to try anything else in case it made it worse.

if its a virgin media super hub , your gona need to hardwire it to get a good , stable connection....those routers have known issues with wireless and xbox one....

 

Yeah it is, I'm not sure if the router we had before was a super hub but this one is, so that sounds like the problem, I'll find out whether the previous one was a super hub as well. By hardwire, do you mean connect to it via Ethernet cable? Or is there
another way I can connect to it more securely from a different room?

 

yes , Ethernet cable.....there are a couple things you could try ....in the settings , enable IPSec Pass-Through on the Gateway , and also only use the 2.4 ghz on the wireless NOT the 5 ghz range.... a few have been able to connect that way....also you can
restore factory defaults on the router by holding in the little reset button for 30 seconds....

 

Do you mean the settings on the Xbox or is there settings I can alter on the router? Where would I find these IPsec Pass-through on the gateway? Yeah I've already switched to the 2 not the 5. Okay I'll try that as well thank you for the assistance

 

Settings on the router , you have to log into it , I'm on my phone right now but just Google superhub log in and it will give you the password

 

It's all sorted now I lowered the speed and it's not as fast but it's more stable so it's back to normal now but thanks for all your help
