Registering a device on an Xbox One account

I logged in to the Xbox account and registered an Xbox One Elite Wireless controller but after a window popped up saying it would appear in My Devices "shortly" it hasn't appeared more than 3 hours later. Why not? What do I do now? This device was purchased
on December 18, 2016 and now has a broken joystick. The controller is still under the 90-day warranty and the only way for me to get it handled is to register it first, which I've attempted to do several times.

Same thing happening to me - November 27 2015. So nothing has happened.

Problem registering a device..

I am getting the EXACT same error when trying to register through xbox.com on my computer. The old xbox is still registered and showing up on the account, but when I attempt to register the new one; I get the aforementioned error.

To register your Xbox, you need a free Microsoft account. If you don't already have one, create a Microsoft account now.
Register your device. When you request service for an Xbox console or a Kinect sensor, you must first register the product. To get started, sign in at Device services,
select Register new device, and then follow the instructions.

After you've registered, you'll see the warranty status for your device. If it's within warranty, repairs are free. If your device is out of warranty, you'll be charged a repair fee.

If the copies you bought are disc copies, it may be the actual disc reader in your xbox.

I suggest trying another disc besides Red Dead Redemption 2 to see if the problem persists

If it does persist you may have to submit your registered Xbox Console in for a service order here.

it needs to be registered to your account before you can request a repair/replacement under warranty sign in
