Registering a controller to get service order

I just bought an Xbox One controller with a faulty left trigger.

I'm trying to lodge a service order and I'm being asked for the controller serial number.

It seems the serial number of the box is 14 digits, but the online form only allows 12. Am I missing something?

    :)

Xbox ONE Controllers - one out of warranty, the other MIGht be within warranty

To add - when I tried registering my first controller for a service, the microsoft website said:

    No Records Found

If you find no offers available for your out of warranty device, please visit microsoft.com/store if you would like to purchase a replacement.

xbox turns off after a few seconds when i turn it on

Yes, you can start a repair order on this page
    https://support.microsoft.com/devices
by registering your console by its serial number and then creating a service order.

Alternatively you can contact xbox support in a live chat here to have them help you set up a repair:

You don't need to register controllers. If you had just recently purchased the controller and it is not working have you considered returning it to the store you purchased it from for an exchange? It would be a lot faster.

If you cannot return it to the store and are still having trouble setting up the service order give phone support a call and they can help you.

I actually had the same problem and I was confused. They are asking you for your CONSOLE's Serial Number not the controller. Once the Console is registered. Click you have a problem and click accessory then click controller for it to be repaired.

    Controller Melted

go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices/ and make sure the controller is registered (if it isn't registered you will need to register it)

then select the controller and start an online service order

I want to request a replacement for the controller that came with the Xbox Series X because it stopped working after just 3 weeks of use.

In order for you to possibly get a replacement for the controller in question. You must register the device and then create a service order. As long as you are still under warranty, they will generally replace the faulty device. I wish you good luck.

    https://account.microsoft.com/devices

If the controller came with your Xbox Series X, register the console. After registering the console select 'See details' on the registered device and then opt to start order with that console. After selecting start order, you'll be able to select accessory as the category of issue.

To do a controller repair please first register your console's serial number and then start a service order and select the controller.
