register xbox one controller for repair

When you go the the device pasge
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/devices

and signed in with your microsoft account. At the top you should see register a device this is the CONSOLE not controller. You need too register your console 1st even if the controller was purachsed by itsself or come with the console. If your console is
already registered you will see it next too the register a device button,

You will need the CONSOLE SN that can be found on the back of the console on a sticker or on the bottom. Or you can head too settings system console info and that will show the SN.

Once the CONSOLE is registered you then click on the CONSOLE and choose start a service order.

From the drop downs choose accessories has you want too replace the controller then from the other drop down choose standard controller or specail edtion controller depending on what you have. It will then ask you for the PID number of the CONTROLLER and
show you a pic of where too find it on the back. There is 2 numbers one on top and one on the bottom of the bar code so make sure too try both.

If the controller isnt in warranty then it will advise that it isnt and show you a cost of a new controller. If it is in warranty then it will advise this and show has free replacement. You then follow the steps Address etc and it will email you with a service
shipping label with info on how too arange collection.

Again this doesnt matter if the controller was purachsed on its own or come with a console or bundle its the same process

is it still in warranty? If it is outside of the warranty period, they do not repair/replace controllers.

I have managed to sort this. I had to register the xbox one first then the controller.

The controller is on its way back for repair.

You can sign up your controller for repair by going to
https://devicesupport.microsoft.com/ and select your registered Xbox One console. If not already done so, register your Xbox One console first.

Then choose that you have trouble with an accessory for that console, and then choose the accessory type (i.e. your controller).

Provide the serial number of the controller from the battery compartment and continue with the repair order.
