Regions do not match when setting up Xbox live for my son.

So my son is trying to set up a Xbox live account, so he goes through the registration process and it says you must enter a parent account to associate it with, so I got through entering my account details (windows live login/password) and it then says "the
region for the child account does not match the region of the parent account, check your region settings and try again", you then get a choice of OK or Back and end up going round in circles. How do I "Check my region settings?" whereabouts in my xbox live
account information on line do I find that? I don't understand why it's querying this anyway, my xbox was bought and registered in the United Kingdom and has never been used anywhere else in the world, my xbox live account was created in the United Kingdom
and has never been used anywhere else in the world, same for my son's account, so why is there a problem and how do I fix it? Right now I've got a very grumpy 10 year old who wants to get onto his xbox live account and can't because of this silly issue. Do
I have to create all new profiles to fix this, or is there some setting somewhere in account settings that just needs changing? Come on Microsoft help people, please can you assist with this.

I am sorry Mister G I appreciate you trying to help but I think you are completely missing the point of the problem. I don't want to set up a child account with a different region, I am definitely in the same region as my son - United Kingdom.

When I try to set up a child account on My Xbox, and then link it to a parent account, if I use a *.COM email address for the parent account I get an error message saying "the region for the child account doesn't match the region for the parent - please
check your region and try again", but if I use a *.UK email I don't get this error message and am able to proceed with linking the parent account to the child account.

I believe the error message is erroneously saying the region is wrong, just because my region is United Kingdom and I am not using a *.UK email address. In the UK we do have *.COM email addresses too you know (hotmail.com/gmail.com).

You have kindly checked that there is no drop down to select region from the My Xbox "join xbox live" process, it clearly says in fact "United Kingdom" on my sons registration and again on my own registration, therefore the error message about "the region
for the child account doesn't match the region for the parent" is wrong and prevents me from registering this Xbox live account.

Please review the details in the thread again and understand the problem being described by several people.

First you need to be in a xbox live region

Which region do you live in

The payment option MUST match your account region which you would've picked upon setting up the account

If you.just created it you cannot change the region of an account till 90 days

When you say not working is it gears 1 and 3 and is it the 8015017 error or not available in your region ?

If so then you must match your account region to your actual region us foreign bases don't count as the us

If you don't live in a xbox live region you cannot get it

Due to the region locks

To match your region first goto my account and settings and change my region on this site

Then change it on your console

Does your account region and actual region and console region and language region match if not that would be why

You must change the acount regions at https://accounts.microsoft.com and migrate my region

Then match your other settings

If you dont live in an xbox live region it wont work
