(REGIONAL PROBLEM) Games w/ Gold: Dead Space

I agree with ngocphi it's not MS that decides the region lock of a digital game but the publisher.

Dead Space is available in PAL regions.Not sure where you got the whole NTSC/NTSC-J only thing from.

I'm in the U.K. which is a PAL region & had no issues downloading the game.

I suspect Dead Space may have some restrictions on it in the UAE which is why the op is having issues,in which case an alternative game should be available although that may not be the case now if you have changed your region to one that you don't live in.

 

before, i migrated region to the US, there was no alternative to Dead Space leaving confused.

if anyone finds a solution, i'll really appreciate it.

@ Badger you are confounding the disc edition with digital edition. Check up your facts before expressing statements!

The message received by the gamers who own PAL consoles is "This game's region does not match this console. It won't be downloaded, and you have not been charged"

This clearly is the case of locked region by the publisher.

 

Then how come I & many of my friends who are all in the U.K. have downloaded it with no problems at all?

My facts are 100% correct,it is available in the PAL region

 

I don't have the pleasure to know you or your friends yet if I was you I would check if you are using a NTSC console. The physical region can be changed yet not that of 360 xbox console.

If your facts are based just in your opinion I invite you to contact xbox live support and confirm them.

 

I am using a PAL console,i've never owned a NTSC console in my 13 years of being an xbox owner,all of my friends from the U.K. that have downloaded Dead Space are using PAL consoles.

There are 3 people in my household,all with their own PAL consoles & own accounts & all of them have downloaded Dead Space without an issue.

If you are getting your info from phone/chat support then that's the problem,a lot of them are not very knowledgeable about such things.

I know that you are trying to help but you have got some bad info from somewhere,Dead Space is fully available as a GWG title to PAL regions this month.

It is more likely that the op's issue is due to a licensing issue due to where they live

By switching your account to US, you now "bought" the NTSC US version of the game.

Granted, I didn't have time yet to try the game, but I'm from Germany (a country where violent games often are banned or specially modified to have less blood) and was able to "purchase" the PAL version of the game.

Unfortunately, a region change is only possible every 3 or 4 months. So you are currently stuck getting US games.

Try to contact the official support, and explain them that you made an error, and wish to migrate to the UK.

In Great Britain, games are in the PAL region and should be able to work on your UAE console.

However: Especially on 360 games they sometimes not only region code the games, but also "geofence" game downloads according to your IP address your ISP assigns your home. For example,
even with an US account, a German person would be
unable to download for example the classic old "Wolfenstein 3D" game in Germany, as Xbox Live detects if the IP address comes from Germany, and won't allow the download.

So if Dead Space (PAL version) is for example banned in UAE because of the violence or other content, you can't download it, even if you have an UK migrated account.

But it's worth a try.

 

I'm suffering from the same problem and I live in UAE.

The only option left is to contact support and hope they could fix this or at least offer another game instead. A good amount of people are having trouble downloading this game and I'm surprised there isn't a definite fix for the issue. I'm really annoyed
that I have to miss out on an entire GWG title, even though I technically paid for it. This isn't fair at all.

 

I can't even change my region yet, since I already did a little less than 3 months ago.

 

@shadow its not something support can fix it's your issue that you need to address cannot legally change the requirements of the game

And no . alternatives are given so you can violate the terms of use

To get content your account region and actual region and console region must match

There is no work around or troubleshooting for region locks beyond that that isnt a violation of the terms of use

That is actually part of the requirements of xbox live

Your account region must reflect your actual region no its or buts about it

 

You are only garentee games if you follow the tou and having matching account region and actual region

 

This happened to me too man i feel slightly better that i am no alone

 

All you have to do is follow the rule of xbox live

First match your account region to your actual region

It's simple

And not ty and get content you aren't supposed to like us content when you are in another country

 

I am from Slovakia and have same problem. And do not understand, why should I pay for live account, if I cannot download game in my region... What am I paying for then?
