Region locked Xbox Series S updates

I have recently purchased an Xbox Series S, and am temporarily residing in the country of Malawi. While setting up the Xbox, I encountered the message 'It is time to update' followed by 'checking for updates'. It then says 'There was a problem with the update', then tells me to go to the Xbox website whilst giving me the error code 0x80072F8F. I then follow the steps by checking the network connection (the test is successful, but I still cannot download the update) then I power cycle the console (still not able to download the system update). I then try to perform an Offline System Update, but while trying to bring up the troubleshooter, my Xbox immediately powers off or powers off after a few seconds. I was successful in installing the OSU once but I was just sent back to step one, where I chose my location, selected the language and connected to the Internet, but it said 'It is time to update' and 'checking for updates' once again. I am starting to suspect that the update may be region locked and I am simply unable to access it where I am. Any answers or help regarding the situation is appreciated.

i know it´s not region locked, but it needs update to work without region lock, or drm, so i think that´s problem.

This error appears when your internet service is unable to connect properly to Xbox Live Network, as Malawi is not in the list of supported sites, this can be the reason:

But just to test, try using another wifi network to see if can be a restriction with the actual one

You said that you chose your location. Have you tried choosing a different location?

Xbox One and Series X|S consoles from China are region locked, so that’s why there’s no options to update the country/region and language. There’s unfortunately no possible workaround to this.

Yes, there are no regional locks on Xbox One hardware or peripherals. Your Controller will work on any Xbox One. It will also work on the Series X/S too.
