    Hello.

I am looking to extend support for the 9th issue (currently) on Xbox feedback on the fact that Microsoft has locked languages based on your location. There are over 2 million UK citizens living in Europe alone. There are countless people that want to play
games in there original format and not be forced to play games in awfully bad translated format. We need your help the "community" to help push up the votes and get MS to take action on this annoying issue.

    Xbox Ideas, powered by UserVoice

Thanks in advance for any help on the votes.

    Pete

    :)

HORRIBLE customer service, problems with purchase & 5 days to resolve!?

one of the reasons why Kinect games are region locked is because Kinect only support 8 languages

each Kinect game only supports a certain language hence why only those regions are supported

I can't activate a code for a game from my region

This is why you must buy games from your actual region

even if you migrate back to uk or any other kinect region it wont help if you dont actually live there kinect games are region locked due to the language support limitations if I remeber correctly

romania isnt a xbox live region fyi thata why you dont have a romainian marketplace

the migration tool is only supposed to be used for xbox live regions

I don't understand how they could ever think that this was a good idea? I've completely stopped playing on my Xbox One because of this.

As a Dutch speaking Belgian person I'm forced to play games with dutch voice-overs if I also want to use Xbox live etc? That just ruins the whole gaming experience for me...We don't dub our movies and we learn English in school from a fairly young age. I
should be able to choose which language I want on my console regardless of where I live or what the native languages are (FYI our 3rd official language is German but for some reason those people are just left out). And that's just my personal issue with it.

There are countless of expats and people that don't speak the language of the country they are resigning in that are faced with this same problem. Here in Europe we are multicultural, so we don't always use our native language. And why should we?? Because you
say so? That's an good way too lose costumers!!

Let people choose what language they want regardless of where they live. The same thing goes for the kinect. I've had my Xbox before it got released here and had no problem using the English voice-control. Now that I've set my country to Belgium I can't
even use any of the voice-controls cause you don't want me to use the English one and you aren't even ready with the Dutch one?! It's cool you want to make it available for every language, but don't bloody force people to use a certain language...

I sure hope you take this in to consideration because it's just awfully ridiculous how your language settings work.

As an Expat living in the Netherlands I completely agree, this setup is absurd. We were advised that the Netherlands was not part of the original launch due to "many factors," and many sources are cited in saying this was including "localized Xbox One dash
support, additional voice and languages, and partnerships for apps in each country".

One year on and they have managed to deliver precisely 0 of these point, we have been forced in to paying an extra €100 for the Kinect (which I was hoping to allow my children to be able to utilize) only to find that when we start up there is still no localization.
My children are dual brought up to use dual languages (English and Dutch), but unless I want to keep on switching regions and console language (which requires a 5 minute restart every time I do it) they are not able to utilize my new found brick, well let’s
face it that's all it is good for now.

As a European I have always felt slightly envious when Microsoft shifted its focus from a global provider (Xbox/V1 Xbox 360) to take care of its US market. Since this point they have let us down by withholding features and reducing the support. This issue
though is for me probably the final straw, it show a real lack of understanding of the global market as it is today, where boarders are almost nonexistent and it is not uncommon for someone to speak 2/3 languages.

MS you need to sort this, you are alienating your European consumers and I haven’t even mentioned the cultural insults that you are enforcing. This need to move up the list ASAP

I agree. There are workarounds for this issue, but the fact of the matter stays that we have to lie about the country we are living in to be able to play our games in the original language.

The thing which disturbs me the most is that there were several threads about similar issues on Xbox 360 and instead of fixing those, they made it even worse (on Xbox 360 there were only some games which did not check the locale setting).

On Xbox One, there isn't even a way to set the locale (except if you lie about your country).

I don't understand who thought it was a good way to go in this day and age.

There are a lot of people who travel or work/study in other countries and don't speak the native language of the country...

Wow I did edit my post and all of it is gone.

    That's just crazy.

I wanted to explain some extra stuff, but I don't want to type it again.

I just wanted to say that I applaud being able to play games in the native language of a lot of countries, but I don't understand why you have to be forced.

If I want to play a game in a language because I am learning that language, I don't see what it should matter for a company.

This is true not only for Europe but also for many countries around the world as well. We have the same issue in South America.. and it worsens by having the games dubbed in Spain's Spanish, not even Latin American Spanish. I can't understand why is this
such an enormous thing to change... it should have been updated long ago.

Tweeting to Major Nelson and Phil Spencer.. hopefully that'll draw their attention

  9. Hello Microsoft. Please pay attention to this. It doesnt make sense that we cannot set our language to english if we leave in the netherlands. This country speaks english fluently. If you are worried about accents not working with the kinect, this should
    not be an issue.

Let us set the language we want inside the country we reside.

I want to use one guide in the netherlands but i cant do that if i want my console in english.
