Region lock issue

Indeed, it is not easy to make gifts with friends who are not in our region. The best thing would be to get your money back. It's the same with gift cards unfortunately.

It does tell you as you're entering the email for the other person that the ode will only work in the US. Microsoft doesn't know the region of the person you're sending it to based on that so it can't stop the purchase.

I would also advise against having your friend change his region to redeem the code. It doesn't always work and bypassing region restrictions violates the terms of service which would put your friend at risk for being banned. The best thing to do is see
if you can refund the code and buy the code for his region from another site.
