    Region Lock Games?


    Hi,

    Recently, the MGS V TPP was released and as a die hard MGS fan. I really want to play it on my Xbox 360 console. My Xbox Live Account is registered in the Philippine(s) Region and when I opt to purchase it (digitally ofcourse using the Xbox website), an
    error message will show up saying, "This offer is not available in your region." I already contacted various Retail Stores in hoping to get a Disc Copy but they said that there won't be a Disc Copy that will arrive soon. What should I do besides changing the
    Region? I don't want to change for uncertainty it may cause on my account. What are the pros and cons if ever there's no other choice but to change the region?

    Please help! Thank you.

    Region Lock Games?

    Sorry to hear the game is not available where you live. This is not due to a choice from the developer or supplier though but by restrictions place by your local government. If you would like specific games in your region you would need to approach them
    to try and get their regulations amended.

    As for changing regions that should only be done if you were moving to a new region. This is because changing regions can pose a myriad of problems such as:

    1. Not being able to change there or back due to age restrictions

    2. You would need to add currency that is specific to that region

    3. Gold memberships are region locked

    4. Although you may be able to purchase the item you could have have issues downloading it due to region restrictions.

    From my understanding, the digital version is currently only available to US and Japan. You might wanna get the
    disc copy from Play-Asia? It's an on-line retailer from HK and the disc is region free.

    If the game is region locked then a code for the game will be region locked. In order to download region locked content, your account region has to match your physical location and you have to be in a region where the game is available.

    Yes there are games that are region locked and your accoung region and actual region must match

    Resident evil is one of many region locked content

    Both games are region locked

    Any resident evil or kinect game is region locked

    Anything that is triple a titles are region locked

    Since both games that are free this month isn't a major title there is no region lock on them

    For the best experience with live your account region must match your actual region

    However you don't live in an Xbox live region

    There is no way to refund prepaid currency cards

    You will have to find a game that isn't region locked

    Most triple a titles are though

    The region locks technically aren't even NTSC/PAL locks because such a differential does not exist within the console. The games are just coded with a region lock. When a region locked game is loaded on a console from another region, it will display an
    error message. If a game is region free, it does not look for what region the console comes from and continues to run. The region lock outs for Xbox 360 games these days are down to the publishers, nothing more.

    Xbox One on the other hand has no regional lock outs at all for disc games. You can play any Xbox One game on any Xbox One console. There are certain region locks for downloads, but that has nothing to do with NTSC and PAL.

    Region locks don't always apply to games that's why we suggest your location match your actual region and buy consoles and games from your actual region
