    Region free blu ray discs.


    I recently purchased a set of blu ray discs that were advertised as region free. Microsoft says that region free discs will play on any xbox one console, but the blu ray player app will not recognize the discs as valid. Is there any reason for this? I have
    an original model xbox one, all updates are installed for both the system and the player app.

    Hi,

    All Xbox One games are region free. DVD's and Blu-ray discs are still subject to regional restrictions. Which means unless a particular DVD or Blu-ray disc is region free (0/All), it won't play on your console. UHD Blu-ray discs are all region free.

    No,afraid not.Xbox Ones are region locked when it comes to dvd's/blu-Ray discs.

    It would only work if the blu-ray was region free.

    Changing region won't work for dvd/blu-ray discs.

    It is region locked so will only play discs from the region you are in,for example if you are in Europe then your console will only play PAL region dvd's/blu-rays or region free discs.

    Disc based games are region free so any will work but dvd/blu ray is region locked so only dvd/blu ray from the U.S. region will work.

    Well, I'm not convinced, like I said have bought a game from the US it won't read disc therefore in my opinion, its not region free. Blu ray discs are region free, and the blu rays I bought in the US work fine on Xbox one as they do in any other blu ray
