    Hi,

    I'm from England & I bought an Xbox One in the UK but it gives errors when trying to play Region B Blu rays or Region 2 DVDs, Region free Blu Rays play fine via the Blu Ray app on the Xbox One. Sometimes it doesn't even give an error & just returns to the
    dashboard?

    Spoke to someone on xbox support but they didn't know & basically said just wait for an update.

    Errors I get:

    DVD: Sorry, we cannot play this disc. The disc is made for region 2 and this console is designed for region 1. (0x91d70005)

    Blu Ray varies: THIS BLU-RAY DISC WILL PLAY BACK ON REGION B PLAYERS ONLY

    Region Free

    If a BD has no region coding then what is there to prevent it from playing?

    Of course the console itself will be locked to Region B for the UK as all UK Blu-ray players are.

    Xbox One Region coding for blu ray and DVD

    Ok just to update you guys.

    My uk xbox wont play usa standard def region 1 dvds

    It will also not play usa blu ray region A dvds

    It will play region free blu rays and region B blu rays and region 2 standard def dvds.

    So its basically same as a normal uk blu ray player.

    I thought there was a rumour that the x1 was region free blu ray. Unless it means the games are region free and playable on any x1

    Either way im happy coz ill only be using it as a games console

    Hi,

    All Xbox One games are region free. DVD's and Blu-ray discs are still subject to regional restrictions. Which means unless a particular DVD or Blu-ray disc is region free (0/All), it won't play on your console. UHD Blu-ray discs are all region free.

    There are several questionable statements in the OP's posts, but the region-free bit of the XB1 only applies to games.

    Each Xbox One console is manufactured for a specific Blu-ray and DVD region, following international standards. The Xbox One console can play Blu-ray discs and DVDs that are sold in the same region as the console. See the following tables for the countries
    in each disc region.

    Note Game discs for the Xbox One console are not coded to regions.

    Also, if purchased in Canada, you would only be able to to play region A or region free Blu-rays.

    The UK region is B for Blu-rays, however lots of sites do sell region free Blu-rays in the UK.
