Regarding the "statistics" section of the game

Regarding the "statistics" section of the game - I assume the "star" and number following the "star" indicates how many daily challenges I have played, but what does the "crown" - or whatever that thing is - mean?

The crown will appear on stats that you are in the top 3 of your friends, for example in a FPS game that has a kill tracker if you are the one with most kills among your friends you will have a gold crown, silver if you are second place and bronze if you are third

I've noticed this too. Statistics shows completed games correctly but the Awards section has a number of counters that are lower than they should be.

I play mainly on Mobile but play an occasional game on PC but there doesn't seem to be any correlation with this issue.

We are aware of an issue regarding the statistics in the game and the dev team are working on a fix. We hope to have it out to players very soon.

Same issue here. The statistics section shows I'm winning games and earning medals but sometime around last week progress on most achievements stopped recording, still progressing toward doing a month of challenges though.
