Regarding over 25% of xbox one hardrive being used by system updates.No resolution through xbox

after normal format 500GB storage is actually 465GB this is normal for any systems as hardware manufacturers work out hdd\ssd sizes as 1000 bytes in a KB where as all software works on 1024 bytes in a KB.

then you have system reserve which is for cache, system files, swap files, reserve space for the recording feature, accounts and local saves. this alone can take a significant amount, this is the same as most systems including PS.

also some games create a cache too.

technically you should have approx 364GB of usable space

the xbox series x i know has around 802GB of usable space from a hardware advertised 1TB (931GB after format which is normal then system reserved)

when you get system updates it does not and should not increase the usage by the amount downloaded for the update, that update replaces a lot of files therefore not increasing by much.

Storage has always been calculated like this and always will be until manufacturers start advertising the usable space after format which they have not done so even after decades.

Currently it would be hard to find an Xbox One with a hardrive with more than 500GB, that being said you should invest in either an external hardrive or a new hardrive with at least a 1TB.

hi there what you want to do is buy a clear hardrive and then use that one in stead of the used hardrive and then transfer it over

I think its impossible to get banned by using an OFFICIAL MICROSOFT 20GB HARDRIVE in a xbox slim.. The keyword is official, if you bought it from the microsoft store thats even more official. I called the xbox help line and they said that its okay that ive
been using the 20gb hardrive in my slim for 2 years. There is 0 chance you will get banned, since almost all of my friends have been using this techinque from youtube. I feel like if microsoft doesn't want us removing their covers just to save 100$ on a hardrive
when the xbox one is coming out, they shouldve made a 20gb specificly for the slim. Also if they call that system tampering, we are not using any software, we are simplier taking out the hardrive from its case and placing it in an xbox. If this was system
tampering, why microsoft make the old hardrives fit the slim. I think this is just a scare tactic that is trying to make you spend a ton of money. So don't worry, use the old hardrive the xbox one is coming out soon.
