Refusing to give pro-rated refund

    I cancelled my X-box live membership back in June because I only used it to stream content which I no longer need. According to the Live FAQ:

    I can get a pro-rated refund for this. But first Microsoft sent me an email saying my refund was denied with no reason given, just a link to the FAQ. Then when calling customer support, first they said I wasn't eligible because I started my membership
    back in January. But after referring them to the FAQ which clearly states that isn't the case, they tried to just offer 6 months of free X-box live credit. Which I clearly don't want. So now I just have to wait (and keep checking the status page) to see
    if they will actually give my money back or not. This whole thing reminds me of how Comcast does business, by first denying all requests and then making it as difficult as possible to actually get the deal offered. And offering deals for less than promised
    each time you contact them.

    Has anyone else had an experience like this? Has anyone actually got a pro-rated refund from Microsoft for the pre-purchased live membership?

    Getting a refund for a broken Xbox One?

    You would have to discuss a refund with the microsoft store. If they are refusing to give you one, then a repair would be your only option. Or you could sell the console.

    If your paid until September you can get a partial refund (pro-rated) for the remaining time left on the account. You will need to contact Microsoft via their customer service telephone number for this refund for any remaining time where they will be able
    to tell you exactly what you'd be getting refunded for.

    Please read the fine print

    *** All refunds must be requested at the same time through customer support (i.e., one refund request per customer). Proof-of-purchase documentation may be required. Microsoft reserves the right to deny any refund request that it deems to be fraudulent.

    Also you must have a payment option on file to refund to

    They didn't include any fine print, only the reference to the FAQ which states I should get a refund......

    My x-box live account was setup for automatic payment plus I purchase other things through the x-box store so they have payment information on file. And which would be proof of purchase.

    The email simply said "We have evaluated your request and it has been denied for non-compliance with one or more of the policies listed at
    http://xbox.com/livefaq"

    It would have been nice if they listed the reason, but neither the email or customer service when I called them could provide me with one. How can you send a denial email and not even list a reason? Terrible customer service.

    I the bottom of the faq is the fine print

    That's where I posted it from

    If you fail validation they can refuse and they can't tell you you failed validation due to privacy laws as thhat would be phishing

    They can only say sorry we cannot help you or no refund they can't tell you what you failed or what info is missing

    As it is against the law to give private info to not a owner of an account

    Saying yes you got this wrong means next time the person calls he can try again and know which one he failed that's phishing for info if it's not the person who should know that info

    My question is more has anyone else been able to cancel their x-box live membership and get the pro-rated portion refunded to them?

    They can only say sorry we cannot help you or no refund they can't tell you what you failed or what info is missing

    As it is against the law to give private info to not a owner of an account
