refurbished wont update upon opening

I dont know what to do here

i just got the console an hour ago and ive been trying to get it to udate and wont

i went through the trouble shooting things but it still only gets to 10% and says "there was a problem with the update"

I am connected to a hardline

i hit check connection and it says connected to the internet

i did the hard reboot where you unplug it

i even checked microsoft's website and it says everything is running normal

any help here?

System Update issues

Bought newly refurbished xbox 360 E and a 250gb HD. Cant get connected to live because of new system update not fully installing due to error. System wont let me download profile from account. Pretty much cant fo anything. Tried everything suggested from
adding flash drive and even update downloaded to disc. Still wont take update. Help?!?!

Can you please try the offline update tool to see if this will get you console updated.

I had originally had the same problem with a refurb, but applied the offline update, and all is good. My guess is that the refurbished models revert to an older version of the software than is expected by the update engine at this time, so when there is
a issue with build compatibility, it results in an update error.

Repair or Exchange is always a refurbished console

Anyone have buzzing noise at the open close and reset cache after update!? Its normal!?

Since you got the console refurbished the seller most likely had to break the seal to fix the console to refurbish it. This is why they wont fix it sadly. I know it is unfair that they wont fix refirbished ones. I got one used off of ebay recently and i
may have to send it off to get fixed. I hope the seller has not been broken on it.

Is there a way I can check the version and compare my version to the most current? Since it wont connect to Live it wont update on its own, I have tried to update via USB but it doesn't read the USB upon reboot as it should via the instructions. I don't
have a game that is up to date to try.
