    Refund denied, specific reason omitted

    I am trying to get a refund for a game that was purchased for an Xbox when the PC version is needed. Request is categorically denied, no reason given other then referring to the terms, which are nebulous.

    I don't want to report thru my credit card but it seems my best option at this point.

    Anyone else had success resolving this issue?

    For digital games here is the relevant paragraph from microsoft’s terms of sale:

    For complete details on refunds for digital game offers, Xbox apps (excluding movies and tv apps), digital gaming bundle offers, and digital durable and consumable gaming offers, such as games season passes, virtual currency, and microtransactions,
    whether made available through the Xbox console device or on your PC (collectively “Digital Game Products”), see our Digital Game Purchase Refund Terms page https://support.xbox.com/billing/payment-and-purchases/digital-game-purchase-refund-terms.

    I think the only solution is to request a refund again, but Microsoft does say digital purchases are final and are only reviewed under certain circumstances.

    The terms you're quoting above are not the current terms. There is a bit in the current terms just above 16. Return policy that excludes games and indicates they are "further defined below" and are, never defined below; nebulous.

    I've repeated the steps in the earlier post, and I am not going to keep repeating the same thing to expect a different result. There is a clinical definition of that type of behavior. Also, I can't find any post where someone has received a resolution
    doing so. Is there something I am missing? Could this be advice not worth giving (what am I missing)?

    I think this is the best response from the thread you linked to above. No one on the forums can do anything unfortunately, you have to go through the request a refund page again.

    I recommend to try submitting the request for the refund again.

    After you submit your refund request:

    You’ll receive a confirmation email and should get a response from the support team within 72 hours.

    • To cancel your refund request: Reply to the confirmation email requesting cancellation.
    • If you don’t hear back from the support team within 72 hours: Reply to the confirmation email requesting an update on the status of your request.
    • To track the status of your refund request: Check your Order history.

    If the issue persist, please keep in mind the Microsoft Terms of Sale.

    16. Return Policy

    Some items are not eligible for return; unless otherwise provided by law or by a particular product offer, all purchases of these types of products are final and non-refundable:

    • digital apps, games, in-app content and subscriptions, music, movies, TV shows, and associated content;
    • gift cards and service/subscription cards (e.g., Skype, Xbox Live, Groove Music Pass);
    • products that have been personalized or customized;
    • special order products, if not part of a Store promotional offering;
    • random access memory ("RAM") products;
    • services that have been performed or consumed; and
    • clearance items or those marked with a designation such as "Final Sale" or "Non-Returnable".

    You should report the product under the additional information section on the page you linked. What was the specific reason your refund was denied?
