Refund denied because you played or consumed the content ????

it doesn't matter what platform your on I don't think these days.

I've had this happen on Microsoft where I had the same game charged to one of my kids accounts 3 times.

There is No bonus to having 3 copies of a game on a single user account but I was still denied a refund after nearly a month of back and forth. My final email from support was "Enjoy your game!".

Steam I had clicked purchase on game content for a game I didn't even own and was denied a refund because they said the content was consumed.

Sony I had a similar experience as with Microsoft. I was charged for a game twice on the same account and was denied a refund because it came in "Ingame content" that was consumed. Unique content that was only claimable once, but still a loophole existed to deny the refund.

The Buyer is always at a disadvantage when buying Digital copies. The Terms of Service (ToS) & End User License Agreement (EULA) are subject to change without notice.

Often the Act of purchasing Digital content is considered consumption even if you've never installed it because of digital items/goods that may be linked to your handle.

I recommend sticking with Disk if Playing Offline types of content and go Digital only when you know you are getting that game for it's online play.

Apple* and Android are the only platforms I know that offer easy(*ish) refunds for purchases and even they are subject to third party terms.

Only after loosing nearly a thousand bucks over the past few years to these policy changes have I started to read the ToS and EULAs. I no longer install Games on the same PCs I do my Banking on to say the least about how some things are worded and legal garbage.

Always use disposable credit card numbers when setting up Payments online regardless.

It gives you the ability to simply set the Maximum amount of funds available to the card and the site you link it to. This way you can simply cancel the card if you don't want to be charged again.

Most large Banks of this service or you can try a third party like privacy.com.

I have once again contacted Microsoft support where I was urged to request a refund. After waiting a couple of days for my request to get processed I was denied the refund because "[Microsoft's] refund policy doesn't allow refunds for digital game products that have been played or consumed". I can only assume this was the case because I DID download the DLC in question (even though it never worked with my install of the game). I am absolutely shocked at how poorly this whole ordeal has gone... Even if I do decide to repurchase the content, I have no guarantee that this situation won't just happen all over again. I am at a loss for words.

I ended up leaving my son (9) alone while we were playing some fortnite, he ended up buying currency inside the game, and using it on a skin, am I allowed a refund on this or is it classed as fraud?

Keep in mind the refund terms also state:

• For single-use items (like consumables and in-game currency), your request is likely eligible only if the consumable was not redeemed or used.
  

Because of this there is a very high probability they deny the refund since the in game currency has already been spent.

Was also explained to me that if they refuse theirs 3 steps you can do to get a refund they don’t really share.

1) formal refund via Xbox support

2) formal dispute of the original Request for a refund

3) Banking refund, as in they go to the bank your account/credit card is associated to that you purchased the game with and tell the bank your case and they will take care of it.

At this point the goal is to make noise that you aren’t happy about this game. If lots of people are demanding refunds it gives more leverage to the player demanding that sledgehammer and Xbox correct the issue and be clear it’s not appropriate to release half developed games that are a copy and paste of warzone.

Just because the company says no to a refund that’s fine. But you still have rights as a consumer and if you aren’t satisfied because you paid 70$ or whatever (wjth taxes I paid $100 Canadian) and your not satisfied that is fine because you still have rights. Ofocurse don’t keep playing the game and it’s been like a week and you want a refund because they will track that and use it. But you do as a consumer have rights regardless of what they say.
