Xbox Series X VRR not working correctly. Stuck at 120Hz when it should be moving from 39Hz to 120Hz. This was working 2 weeks ago on Warzone and suddenly it stopped working and I have all of the same settings. I've hard reset the console, messed around with settings and reverting back to the original. I have also spoke to "xbox experts" which were extremely unhelpful. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix?

    :)

Refresh rate is locked on 120Hz in Warzone, MW2 and Forza 5. Why is it not changing? VRR is enabled and adaptive sync is ON

I've tried the power cycle and it hasn't worked. Ive also reset the monitor multiple times. Still stuck at 120Hz in warzone, MW2 and Forza. Like I said, it's weird because it flickers a bit in menus and loading screens but as soon as its in game, it's locked ! It was working completely fine and suddenly it stopped. My friend also has the same issue on a Tuf Gaming Monitor.

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this Alasdair

Additional information is needed, please tell me:
Is this happening only with Warzone or with all your games?
And tell me briefly what did you tried so far to fix this
In that way I can advise you different things or how to proceed

I see, if you’re not using an insider build. Could be that something changed with the recent Xbox update

As you already tried factory resetting the console I can advise you performing an offline update for your console. In that way Xbox system will be installed from scratch.
For this you need a USB and PC to format it and transfer files provided in the link below (with detailed steps and requirements):

If maybe the issue persist, the best option now is report this problem to the Xbox team
In that way they can investigate the issue and release an update fixing this as soon as possible

Refresh rate is locked on 120Hz in Warzone, MW2 and Forza 5. Why is it not changing? VRR is enabled and adaptive sync is ON

I have an AOC 24G2SU/BK Monitor. Supports 120Hz at 1080p and has AMD Premium Adaptive Sync. I used the G-Menu to look at monitor and it said it was updated also bought it a week ago.

Refresh rate is locked on 120Hz in Warzone, MW2 and Forza 5. Why is it not changing? VRR is enabled and adaptive sync is ON

It's happening with all games. I must clarify that when I'm in loading screens it flickers to specific Hz such as 48, 60 and 120Hz but when I'm actually playing the game it's frozen/locked on 120Hz causing tearing.

    What I have tried:

    - changed from auto detect to HDMI and this then doesn't allow me to enable VRR

    - reset the console multiple times, once fully and a few times keeping the games

    - turned off all settings, restarted and enabled VRR

    - turned down to 60Hz and enabled VRR (persists with the same issue)

    - unplugged hdmi cable in and out (the 2.1 hdmi which came with xbox) and also switched hdmi cable

    - changed from standard to PC RGB

    - Turned off 50Hz and 24hz video modes and back on and also YC on and off, usually keep this off

    - tried even running at 720p and didn't resolve anything
