Redeeming Microsoft reward points then using it with another account (xbox)?

Hi all,

I am just wondering cause the Microsoft account I use on my xbox is different to the one I claim Microsoft rewards points on. Am I able to redeem say.... a 3 months xbox gold live subscription then use this with the account that I am using on my xbox?

If when I redeem the subscription, I get a code then that would be easy, I can just put the code into my xbox and redeem it that way. Or is the redemption locked to whichever account you redeemed it on (in this case it would be a different account to my
xbox one). I hope all this makes sense, I know I haven't explained it very well. Apologies for that. Thanks.
