redeeming gift card code

im having trouble redeeming my gift card and when i try to redeem it , it says sender name and prohibited word

I received an xbox gift card for Christmas. When I enter the redeem code I receive "This code isn't active yet". How does that happen and how do I redeem my gift card?

You redeem your gift cards in the redeem code section.. If you just got a card you need to get the code from your chosen form of delivery.

I see this error when there is no name on your Microsoft Account Profile. Please add name here: https://account.microsoft.com/profile/

You can add it to your Microsoft Account balance here: Sign in to your Microsoft account . There is a link that says "Redeem a code or gift card"
