Redeeming different region code

Discus and support Redeeming different region code in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; So I have a friend in the US that wanted to gift me Far Cry 5, this is fine and cool and all but since he bought it as a gift from the xbox store there...     Redeeming different region code


    So I have a friend in the US that wanted to gift me Far Cry 5, this is fine and cool and all but since he bought it as a gift from the xbox store there the code is irredeemable for me in Finland.

    I know the region lock from the code can't be changed but I was wondering if I could still play the game using one of these ways.

    1. Set up a whole new account with the United States as it's region, sign in with it on my xbox and redeeming the code with that account.

    The problem is I don't know if the gift code is tied to the account he bought the gift to and even if I managed to download it would just signing back in on my main account let me play the game.

    2. Change region to the United States on the account the gift was sent to and then redeeming the code.

    I don't like this idea because apparently it takes 3 months before I can change my region back to Finland.

    Am I screwed? Any chance my friend could get his money back by contacting support? Maybe he should just redeem the code himself and enjoy the game.

    Nope. If he gifted from Xbox, the codes will only work for the region they are bought in. He could try contacting support to see about getting a refund. Otherwise, he'd have to contact the retailer he bought it from. There is no way round region locking.

    So friend of mine gifted me a code for the minecraft city texture pack which is available in the US as well as the UK but he bought it from the UK and when I tried to redeem the code it says it couldn't be redeemed because it was bought in a different
    region. And that I'd need to contact the seller for a code that works in my region (us) Is there anyway around this? If so I need help Because i don't want him to have wasted his money.

    The only way you could download it is if your account was set as the US and you were physically in the US.

    Your friend would need to contact support for a refund or, like you said, he could keep the game for himself. He can contact support by either 1-800-4my-xbox or Contact Us | Xbox Support

    Changing xbox location from the settings wouldn't work either? Using a US region account on a machine with location set as the US?

    No. With region locked content, your account region has to match your physical location.

    My friend send me a gift card but i can't redeem it.

    it say "This code can't be redeemed. It was purchased in a different region from your account."
    how do you redeem the code from my friend that live in different region.
    You cant. Your friend will have to request a refund for the code and purchase a code for you that is meant for your region.
