    Redeeming codes/gift cards and using points with 30 day security lockout


    In preparation for an imminent Xbox One purchase I logged into my old XBL account. When I decided to add 2 factor auth I ended up getting a 30 day security lockout since I don't have access to the very old email I had listed as the alternate. My question
    is, can you still redeem gift cards and then purchase from the store using the redeemed points during this lockout? I ask because my lockout lasts until after the date for early access to Forza 6 if you get the Ultimate Edition, and since this account has
    nothing of value attached to it I could just make a new one.

    Missing Microsoft Rewards Points

    The other day I tried redeeming a 100$ xbox gift card using the Microsoft rewards program. However, my phone crashed during the process. When I powered my phone back on, my points disappeared and I did not receive my reward.

    Are you getting any error codes when redeeming the codes? are you redeeming straight from the console or have you tried via the website? Also I'm assuming your using a prepaid card and not purchasing the points with a credit card

    They expire 90 days after you redeem them. If you just keep earning points and do not redeem the gift cards yet, the points don't expire. So don't redeem the codes until you're ready.

    If you redeemed your rewards points for a Microsoft gift card or Xbox gift card, the balance should automatically be added to the account balance for the account that redeemed the points. They don't send you a code typically.

    Yes, you can use the points to redeem gift cards and then use those funds to purchase the console through the Microsoft store. Just keep in mind, once you redeem points for a gift card, the funds expire in 90 days. So with the way stock is right now, it may be difficult to know when to redeem them.
