    Redeeming code can't redeem because of local currency


    I recently purchased £15 from the Game store in the UK, but I live in Ireland. I tried to redeem the code online but it keeps saying
    "This code cannot be used with the currency in your billing account. To use the code, change the location associated with your billing account in Settings."

    Can you please tell me how to fix this, and how to change my location to do this. I searched for settings, but I can't find it.

    Please reply ASAP.

    Hopefully the remaining Microsoft points that people have will be converted to local currency, or else that would be a huge waste. I found an FAQ on this, hopefully the information is true.

    Need help redeeming my xbox live code

    I tried redeeming the code in my browser on my computer using these instructions, big mistake. It said "thank you, you redeemed your code" and then exited me out. No gamertag registration whatsoever. I thought the whole point of redeeming my code was to create a gamer tag, but no just exits me out. I then tried redeeming my code on my xbox (so that I could create the gamer tag) and it said "sorry, code already redeemed."

    so what the... what do I do now?

    Redeeming code can't redeem because of local currency

    Those codes are region locked, so you would only be able to use the card on a UK account. You would have to migrate your account's region, but since your physical location and your account region would not match, you may have issues downloading content.

    Smwutches -- If the OP doesn't live in the Republic but is part of Northern Ireland then he'd actually be a member of the UK. If that's the case it'd be best to

    If you go to that page you linked to, it says at the bottom:

    "We’ll continue to accept purchased Microsoft Points Cards and codes
    until further notice"

    [Emphasis by me]

    So if I remember correctly, it was announced at some time that Point codes had to be redeemed until March or April 2015, after which you can't redeem them anymore.

    So unfortunately, you can't redeem your point codes nowadays.

    Sounds like you redeemed the code on an account that hadn't been converted to local currency yet. Try redeeming the code again and see if it applies. If not, you'll definitely want to give Xbox Support a call or chat at

    Do the MS points still work??

    They should work on the xbox one, since you can enter the 25 digit code. Once redeemed they would convert to your local currency
