Redeeming a code region error, while being in the same region.

The content is a game for PC.

I've read quite a bit about region block, and there are a few things that I haven't mentioned in this case. My Microsoft account is set to United States as it's region.

Currently I'm in Europe, and while I had no problems buying stuff directly through the store on Xbox, but.. when I tried to purchase the game as a gift, it asked me to change the region of the Microsoft Shop, which I did change to region I'm currently located
in.

Might that be the issue? Since intuitively, I though if I'm buying a gift through the shop of the region I'm located right now, then the same resident should be able to redeem it.

If that's what caused the trouble then I'm simply going to try to get the refund, and purchase the game directly via his account.

All in all, I think getting a refund and just purchasing the game directly for my friend would solve this entire mess which has been quite a head-scratcher.

In theory, if the content is available for you to purchase through the Microsoft store in your current region, someone with an account in the same region
should be able to play it. Unfortunately, as you've discovered in your search for an answer, the game gifting feature isn't ready for prime time.

Given your proximity, purchasing the content directly via your friend's account is the best option. It's frustrating you can't transfer the required funds directly to his account (better yet, if customer support would simply add the title to his Microsoft
account).

Fortunately, Microsoft has improved drastically at processing digital refunds over the past five years. Let's hope the same holds true for game gifting.

Unfortunately, the game gifting feature for the Xbox Marketplace is hit or miss depending upon the specific title. As you've discovered, it's possible to gift games to friends they might be unable to play due to region locks.

1. What content are you attempting to gift?
2. Which region is your Xbox account?
3. Which region is your friend's Xbox account?

It may be possible to play this game with your friend if he changes the region of his Xbox account:

I'm in the Uk, using a PAL console, my account region has been changed to UK (EU) a while back.

I appreciate the assistance but I'm still confused as this was part of a game collection. I was able to redeem Gears 1, Gears 2, Gears Judgment using the same xbox one here in the same region where I unlocked the other codes from the same collection.

How is it that this is a region error when I have redeemed 3 out of 4 codes from the same collection?

If you're getting an invalid code message when trying to redeem this 14 day trial it could very well mean that you're in a region where this trial cannot be used. You need to be in a region where Xbox LIVE is officially available (along with your account region
being in the same region) in order to successfully be able to redeem this code.

So, if you're in a country where Xbox LIVE is not officially supported, you would not be able to actually redeem this code. The code itself is not actually invalid, it's just that the country/region your account is set to or you're living in is not allowing
the code to be redeemed.
