Just bought a 3 month online gold card and every time I put the code in from my receipt it says sorry something is wrong try again I know I didn't throw away 25 dollars

My Gamer profile does not have the correct permissions to access this feature.

after redeeming the 3 months gold membership

The error can be either profile or with the device used to redeem.

You may try to redeem the code through console or Xbox.com online using another device. If it gives the same error message, then it might be due to profile/subscription. One common factor would be there's an existing subscription on your account.

If all else doesn't work, then I would recommend to reach support to check everything for you.

Are you sure you redeemed to the right account? You redeemed a game pass code but it was only gold code? Was it supposed to be a 3 months of Gold?

If you currently have Game Pass Ultimate and attempt to redeem a 12 month Xbox Live Gold code, it will convert to a 3 or 4 month Ultimate subscription. If you want to continue with just Gold for 12 months and not Ultimate, you would have to wait for the
Ultimate to expire before redeeming the regular Gold code.

If you don't currently have Ultimate, then you should have no problem redeeming the 12 months of Gold.
