Redeemed Minecraft Java Key on my Windows-Account but I cant use it?!

After you activated Minecraft Java, it is showing as owned on your account, right? You just cannot create your username, is that correct?

If so, please try to download the Minecraft Launcher and create your username there or try creating it on the Minecraft website but using a mobile. Try using different web browsers too.

If the issue still persists or you receive an "Unable to create profile" message, unfortunately you will need to wait until this gets fixed as this is a current bug happening. Please take a look at:

I did this long ago, so working from memory. Did you originally buy the Java Minecraft version or the Microsoft Windows version?

I originally had the Java / Mojang version, so when I log on to that site, it gives me a key to redeem for the Microsoft version. I logged into my Microsoft account and redeemed that key and it added Microsoft Minecraft to my account, then I downloaded it
(Xbox and PC).

If you originally bought the Microsoft version, and it is not appearing in your list of games ready to be installed (wait, is this on your Windows computer or your Xbox?)… so then likely you originally bought it using a different Microsoft account. Perhaps
an old email address?

so xbox minecraft code cant be used to redeem java minecraft?

I am trying to redeem a Minecraft windows 10 edition key from the Mojang website.

When you redeemed your Java Minecraft on Mojang, you have gotten a 5x5 code to redeem Minecraft on the Windows 10 store.

This redemption is a separate service of your Mojang account, and it's possible to use a Microsoft Account email that is different from your Mojang account email.

Mojang (which gives you Java Minecraft) is separate from the Microsoft Windows Store App, which uses a Microsoft Account email when you redeemed that 5x5 code.

After redemption of that code, the Windows 10 Minecraft is tied to the Microsoft Account email you used on your Windows 10 PC. From then on, you don't really need the Mojang account anymore, if you only want to play on Windows 10. You will then get the game
from the Windows 10 store only, with the E-Mail account you used on the Windows 10 store during code redemption.

So make sure you are signed in with the Microsoft Account email (which might not necessarily be the Mojang account email) when you use the Windows 10 Store app to re-download your Windows 10 Minecraft again.
