Redeem code not accepted but credit card payment accepted - Xbox Live 12 Month Gold Membership

Hello,

I bought a redeem code ( Xbox Live 12 Month Gold Membership ) from Microsoft store and I`m unable to redeem the code because my region is Malta. I contacted Support team 4 times and each time I was passed to supervisors without any positive result.

- at the beginning a guy from support told me to try with proxy and use US or UK proxy ....professional solution what can I say

- another solution given was to try different browsers...

- a supervisor told me that I will not be able to play Live Gold until I change my region, and neither the redeem code or credit card payment will not work. After I finished the chat I payed with my card for one month and worked without problems.

So the conclusion is that I can`t redeem the code but I can pay with credit card.

I will post a part from my conversation with the Support supervisor:

Mihai: If I payed I want the 12 months and then I`l pay with the card

Mihai: I will not throw 68$ dollars just because your system is not consistent

Julia T: If though you are willing to pay we cannot take the payment as your region isn't supported.

Mihai: I already payed, and if right now I pay for one month

Julia T: Your region isn't supported as your account is in Malta.

Mihai: is all you know to say ?

Julia T: Mihai your account was in the US previously as that's the region you were able to purchase a subscription.

Mihai: I purchase the subscription while my region is Malta

Mihai: one month ago when I payed the region was Malta

Julia T: I see your account was in the US and not Malta when the subscription was purchased. Since your region is in Malta you cannot purchase a gold subscription. Is there anything else I can help you with besides the gold subscription issue?

How to Renew your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership

Overview of Xbox LIVE Renewal

When your current Xbox LIVE Gold Membership is about to run out, you will get a renewal message on your screen.

• Month-to-month membership- Notification comes 15 days in advance
• 3 or 12 month membership- Notification comes 30 days in advance

Xbox LIVE membership can be renewed using a credit card, a debit card, or a Prepaid Gold Membership Card.

If your automatic membership renewal (auto renewal) is set to off, you can purchase a new subscription or use a prepaid membership card to renew your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership.

Renew with a payment option by purchasing a new membership:

Steps to Follow

1) Use your Xbox LIVE gamertag to sign in.

2) Under Settings, select Account.

3) Proceed to Your Memberships, and select the membership that you currently have (for example Xbox LIVE Gold)

4) Select Modify Membership and you will be presented with a list of renewal options. If you are on an Xbox LIVE Free Membership, you can choose to upgrade to Gold Membership.

5) Select a membership option, then Confirm Purchase.

Once you have confirmed your purchase, the following will happen:

• The payment option you are using will be charged immediately.
• The time subscription plan you have just purchased will be added to your remaining subscription time.
• Your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership will be activated and auto renewal turned on.

Take note:

If you use a credit card as your payment option, you cannot remove it on file until your current membership expires.

There is a procedure you can follow to add or change your Xbox LIVE payment option.

Renew with a prepaid membership card

It is possible to renew your Xbox LIVE membership using a Prepaid Microsoft Gold Membership Card. This card is available at retail locations.

If you choose to redeem a prepaid Xbox LIVE membership code, you will be added time to your existing Xbox LIVE membership, while your renewal settings will remain unchanged.

How to turn on auto renewal (for existing membership):

If you are already on Xbox LIVE Gold of Family Pack membership and you want to turn on auto renewal without purchasing new membership, you should contact Xbox Support.

How to Troubleshoot Xbox LIVE renewal:

If there are issues with your Xbox LIVE account, you might receive the following messages. The solutions are provided below:

• Error: Your credit card has been declined several times by our billing service.

This means that your credit card has expired, or the information on it has been changed. To solve this problem, there is a procedure you can follow to change payment option for Xbox LIVE membership.

• Error: 8015d080

In case you receive this error message, you need to contact Xbox Support.

 

xbox live won't accept my CC CCV number to add points but took it for Gold Family membership

Tried multiple credit cards. It accepted the Gold membership, then accepted the Gold Family membership, but will not accept the card to Add Points.

Sorry to hear you had some frustrations with chat support. I'm afraid Malta isn't an Xbox Live supported region, which would explain your inability to redeem an Xbox Live code. It's odd that you were still able to purchase Gold using your card, but if I'm
reading the chat correctly, your account was previously set to the US.

Codes are region specific and while your account may be set to the US, if you're physically located in Malta you would be unable to redeem that code. We recommend keeping your account set to the correct region in order to avoid issues like this.

My initial code was canceled and a new "universal" code was generated by someone from support and the new one throws the same error. Yes I will change in October my region again, most likely to UK even that I have to lie because that`s not my region ...
to use the code.

If I could get a refund for the code I would keep the correct region but I cannot. So I`m obligated to fake my region to get the code working ...I just hope that after changing to UK it will work even that I`m a bit suspicious on that.

If not ...Microsoft takes my money and gives me nothing beside frustration and the wish to move to PS4 when I got the chance.
