Red dots all over screen with brand new Xbox one X

i just recently purchased an xbox one x. i have had an xbox one for quite some time now and never had an issue, Just setup the new one x and i get little red dots and sometimes lines all over my screen, i tired to adjust the video output settings but
nothing seems to really change it. im using the same screen that i used with the xbox one. its not a 4k screen and im not sure if that has anything to do with it bit the one x resolution is set to 1080p anyways, im really excited to use the new one x but
if this problem cant be fixed im afraid ill had e to revert to the xbox one and return the one x. I have read some forums on the issue before posting here and some people say that they had luck switching the hdmi cable out. i will try that tomorrow but still
wanted to post the question in case thats not it and get a jump start on solving the issue

    :)

    Hello CTRUSSO!

Here are a few tips for your non 4k setup:

First check your HDMI cables to make sure you have a good working one. If you do, then proceed to the next step.

    Using the display troubleshooter

To use the display troubleshooter, follow these steps:

    1. Check the current resolution setting on your TV.
    2. Set the resolution to 1080p if your TV supports this resolution. If your TV only supports 720p or 1080i, set your TV to 720p. Then, on your console, select the matching resolution on the Change your display screen.
    3. If your resolution is set to Auto Detect, select 1080p from the Change your display screen on your console.
Note For more information about TV resolutions, see About TV resolutions and Xbox One.

If the screen changes to full size, you've selected the right resolution. To keep this setting, select Keep display at (resolution). This option will close the display troubleshooter and return you to the setup process.

Note It's possible that your console thinks your TV is receiving a DVI connection instead of an HDMI connection. You won't have sound if your console is in DVI mode, so you won't be able to calibrate your Kinect's microphones during setup.
When you reach the Home screen for the first time, you can adjust the display settings and calibrate your Kinect.

To change the display settings on the Home screen to re-enable HDMI:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select System.
    3. Select Settings.
    4. Select Display and Sound.
    5. Select Video output.
    6. Select Advanced video settings.
    7. Select TV connection, which should be defaulted to Auto-detect, and then press the A button and select HDMI.
For more information, see How to adjust the display settings on your Xbox One console.

After you adjust the sound settings, you can set up your Kinect sensor. For more information, see Tips for setting up your Kinect with Xbox One.

Note If you've done this on an Xbox One X or Xbox One S with an older TV, but you later switch to a 4K TV, make sure to switch TV connection back to Auto-detect. 4K isn't available when it's set to HDMI.

If you've changed your TV resolution and your screen turns black or doesn't look correct, wait 10 seconds and the screen will return to the 480p setting. Select Try a different resolution.

After you select Try a different resolution, you'll return to the Change your display screen. There, you can try the remaining resolution option.

If neither 720p nor 1080p work with your TV, select None of these work.

At this point, you can continue with setup using the 480p resolution, though it's not optimal, or you can select a different TV to connect to your Xbox One.

Let us know if that helps!

As the video data is a digital data stream transmitted via HDMI, errors in the transmission result in flickering pixels or lines across the screen.

These errors are usually caused by faulty HDMI cables or faulty connections (e.g. the HDMI cable not being properly plugged in, or corrosion starting to happen). Please unplug the cable on your TV and the console and re-seat the cable properly. Often this
pulling and plugging is enough to scrape the corrosion off the contacts, and you can confirm that the cable is properly seated in the plug again.

If the flickering is still there, try a different cable. Or try the Xbox on a different TV or monitor.

If the flickering is still visible on a different TV with different cables, it might be that the HDMI plug on the console is defective itself, in which case you need to send in the console for repair.

If it's within the one year warranty, the repair will be free.

    Simply go to
    https://devicesupport.microsoft.com
to start the repair process. Register your console if not already done so, and sign it up for repair.

Hello, I suggest do try Power Cycle: first turn off the Xbox by pressing/holding xbox button on the console for 10 seconds it should turn off automatically then then it on by pressing the controller button. If those not work follow these instructions on
this link Troubleshooting 4K and HDR on Xbox One X and Xbox One S if first step doesn't work final choice is to call Xbox
support to see what you can do.

    red dot on xbox 360

The red dot seems like an Xbox 360 slim model, if it's like the same post as in this link....

It looks like it's the Red Dot of Death, if it's a solid red dot, it's Hardware Failure as in the console has died,

Best option would be to upgrade to an Xbox One / S / X, or to save up and wait until late November - December for the Xbox Series S / X.

As always try a hard reset if a new cable doesn't resolve the issue. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Then unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord
back in power up and test for results. Good Luck!
