    Please help! I have an R2-D2 Xbox slim and it has worked fine for the last 4 years, but today after a month of non use it won't turn on. When I try I get a solid red dot and it turns off again. It is no longer under warrantee, and when I looked into getting
    it serviced it said it would cost £64 and they would replace it with a 'similar' one. I don't want a similar one I love my R2-D2 Xbox. I just want to get it working again. And before you ask, it can't be overheating as it won't even turn on and hasn't been
    used for a while. Thanks.

    Hello,

    The solid red dot on an Xbox 360 slim usually indicates a malfunctioning component with your console. Phone Xbox support in your region or use the following address to set up a repair.

    don't sent it for repairs take it back to the store you got it from most decent stores give you 30 to 90 days to return.

    When you say "Red Dot" were is this dot located? is it on the power button? and if so is it a ring?

    It is on the power button, but is just a dot in the centre. When I press it I can hear the fan, the red dot appears and then it turns off.

    Yes. I have carefully taken it apart, removed and cleaned everything short of the heat sink. Still it doesn't work.

    Thanks for posting that info. I'm afraid that support will no longer take your console back for repairs as you've already taken it apart. They will not touch a console that has been opened, even if you pay for it.

    You'll need to purchase a new console.

    I have just replied to this other thread you commented in, but allow me to answer your specific question here.

    If the console light is red, and while powered on the power supply light is
    green, the
    power supply is at fault.

    It looks like it's the Red Dot of Death, if it's a solid red dot, it's Hardware Failure as in the console has died,

    Best option would be to upgrade to an Xbox One / S / X, or to save up and wait until late November - December for the Xbox Series S / X.
