    Red dot on power button - only when HDMI connected


    Hi, have seen similar issues but not exact one, apologies if I have missed it.

    Got new HDTV

    Got existing Xbox 360 250GB

    Removed AV connector (all works ok with that) and attached HDMI cables - Xbox has red dot on power and cannot do anything else.

    Have tried different HDMI port - no difference

    Have powered everything off, removed all cables and started again. Xbox power up with HDMI cable in but red light resumes the second the other end is attached to TV.

    Cannot get into HDTV settings on Xbox with the AV connector as greyed out.

    Please help!

    Red dot of death on Xbox Slim

    Everytime I plug a HDMI cable into the Xbox it red dots. It doesn't matter what HDMI cable, It always has the red dot in the middle of the power button. I also cannot get any controlers to properly connect to the system.

    When you say "Red Dot" were is this dot located? is it on the power button? and if so is it a ring?

    It is on the power button, but is just a dot in the centre. When I press it I can hear the fan, the red dot appears and then it turns off.

    Some newbie questions

    Spam your 'Spot" button. Not only will the enemies suddenly have a lovely red dot above them but it will let your whole team see them.

    Also, check the mini map for red dots when the enemy is shooting as they will show up.

    Thanks for your response.

    The power adapter starts green and then goes yellow when I get the red dot. I will try a new adapter, just in case.

    The most important thing I noticed is that the system runs when the HDMI isn't plugged in. I did try other HDMI cords as well.
