    Red Dot of Death Advice


    I had the original Xbox 360 Phat and it red ring of death on me. I bought a slim about 2 years ago. I play on occasion and dust fairly often. Come to think of it, the fan started to go on full blast a few months ago. Then I got a message saying it will
    shut down due to poor vent not too long ago. I checked through some forums and it said it might a dust problem so i dusted it but it was pretty dust free. Today, I found the red dot of death. Mind you I live in Japan. And find it troublesome and costly
    to ship it back to the US for MS for repair. This was a gift for my daughter to play Kinect Disneyland, but all I see is disappointment in Microsoft for not one, but two faulty devices. I scoured the net for information on how to fix it, and did the plug,
    power, dusting, and found nothing works. I find it wasteful to spend money twice on a company that pushing out poor quality control. All I want is an answer on how to fix it other than shipping back, and paying another 100 or so for a band aid repair job.

    red ring on my 250gb slim xbox 360

    Definitely an AV cord problem. Can't be the red ring of death because its now the red dot of death lol

    @Gob1zku thanks for the help Red Dot of Death Advice :) but i found the problem. my HDMI cable wasn't fully into the TV xD i think it was my cat that did that... he always wants to be at the back of it xD

    Sorry to hear it. Unfortunately the red light means that there is a hardware issue with the console. Also, due to the age of the older FAT models they are no longer being serviced by Microsoft at all. You would need to purchase a new console in order
    to continue playing.

    If this is a brand new Xbox, try these troubleshooting steps: support.xbox.com/.../flashing-red-light-on-the-xbox-360-s-console-power-button-2122791

    If this is a 3 day old console and you get to the area where a repair is needed, I would suggest returning it to the store as you should be within their alloted time for a return. If they won't accept it back, you may need to go through with the repair
    process directly with Microsoft.

    Since it is out of warranty I would suggest buying a new 320 gb with star wars pre loaded. if it doesn't solve to issue return the drive to the store for a refund. It sounds like that will fix your issue...
