Red dead redemption won't start

I bought red dead redemption from the Xbox store for 29.99.. after waiting for it to download and install I hit launch and a screen appeared saying "getting your game ready this may take a few minutes."

Before I can even do anything it switches to an error screen saying I need to sign into the account that bought the game or insert the disc?

What do i do? I sure hope I didn't waste $30

Sorry to hear that you're having this problem if you are still experiencing it.

If you have not been able to play the game still, then I would go ahead try first remove and redownload your account using the steps on

How to add or remove a Microsoft account on Xbox One.

If the issue persists, then I think that your best bet is to try a soft reset of your console.
It's a reset of your console back to factory settings but one that does not uninstall any of your games or apps and is a really good troubleshooting step for most issues.

Just make sure that before you go ahead with it, that you do know all of the sign-in information for any/all of your accounts(asthey
will be removed) and have easy access to your internet network.

Also make sure that you select the option denoted
reset and keep my games and apps.

You might try contacting support to see if they can clear up the confusion. Contact Us | Xbox Support

 

Try clearing your local cache by holding down the power button on your console for 10 seconds.

Retry afterwards.
