    Red Dead Redemption not working on Xbox One S


    Hello,

    I tried to play Red Dead Redemption on my new Xbox One S. I bought the game in used condition at gamestop, then I inserted the disc and the Xbox told that this game is not backward compatible. Red Dead Redemption is definitive backward compatible as it is

    Hey Markus -

    Are you able to play any other games that are listed as backward compatible or are you experiencing issues with all BC games? If it's just Red Dead Redemption, let's have you try
    uninstalling
    the game,
    power cycling     your Xbox One console, and then trying again.

    Give those a shot and let us know! Red Dead Redemption not working on Xbox One S :)

    Yes, that actually could explain it. If you bought Red Dead Redemption as part of a bundle (especially a bundle with Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox One or Series X|S), there’s a chance the original RDR was only included as a backward-compatible title for newer consoles, not as a standalone Xbox 360 license.

    You can double-check some information here:

    Go to > https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders

    • Look for the bundle and click into the purchase.

    • See if it lists Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360) specifically, or just says “Playable on Xbox One/Series X|S.”

    If it doesn’t list the 360 version, you’ll need to contact support and ask if your bundle included the Xbox 360 license.
