Recycling Inactive Accounts

More for the sake of gathering/voicing opinions, one thing that has always been a sticky situation was that of trying to change your Gamertag to something that hasn't been in use for quite some time. Since the inception of Xbox Live, GTs have always been
a struggle to be the first person to jump on the opportunity to have a unique name. Early on, it was a grab-all for those names that really strike a unique cord in gaming. 13 years on, it's a rare sight to see anyone with a coherent one word, no number name.
The point I'm getting at is that at some point, these accounts go inactive, some for long periods of time, if at all. A great many have zero gamer score, zero games, etc. Most look like someone grabbed the name just so that they could sign it up in the future,
but never did. Now, while all account names across the Microsoft network are connected, there has to be a way to view certain inactive accounts to disable them, to free them up for other users. Just seeing who else would want to see this happen. I know a few
years ago there was going to be a recycling, but never really saw anything come of it. I'm sure there's plenty of people who would like to see their old name back, change to something fresh. Let's clean up the system and put these Gamertags to use again.

Gamertag Recycle/Delete?

I called them and they said that try are starting a program that involves recycling gamertags that are inactive so that the person that wants the gamertag can have it.

 

Guys & Girls, do the community a SOLID and vote for inactive/banned gamer tags to be recycled!

Lets be real. Nothing last forever, not even us. So why make a gamer tag attached to someone permanently? There are probably some really awesome gamer tags like "Master Chief" where the person is no longer with us(dead) or inactive and chooses to never return to xbox live. Gamer tags that are inactive should be recycled so another person or new generation of gamer can honor it and keep the gamer tag active.
There should be an option to petition for a GT that meets certain conditions. 1) no online activity for 3 years; 2) An email that goes out to the individual with the option to reply with a yay or nay to allow xbox to break the connection worth the GT; 3) of no response to the email after 90 days, the GT is automatically surrendered and made available to the person who made the petition; 4) if the GT isn't taken within 7 days after notice has been made to the petitioner, it is available for anyone to grab. No fees, other than the cost to change the GT in the first place.

They did recycle gamertags several years ago that had never been converted over from the original Xbox. The problem was, several people snagged them up and tried to sell them so they stopped recycling them.
